Bad/weird dreams about not being able to give birth...

So lately I have been having some pretty strange dreams. Really strange, and really bad about not being able to give birth.

Example: Last night I had a dream that I was in the hospital, and my doctor was a kangaroo (Um yeah not sure about that part!). He had an Australian accent as well. He also had on a white doctor's coat, glasses, and a stethoscope.

Anyway he kept telling me to relax and I couldn't. I was sweating and pushing really hard but nothing was happening. I started crying because he told me that my water was not breaking. No matter how hard I pushed I could not get my water to break. In my dream the only way to get my water to break is to push but it was not working.

So after about hours and hours of trying to push he told me he would help me with "kangaroo care." I was like WTH is kangaroo care?  He told me to get into his pouch and it would help me give birth.

Luckily I woke up before I got into his pouch, but I have had dreams like this for the past week. About not being able to give birth one way or another.

DH just laughed when I told him about it.

  • That IS funny about the kangaroo, but I think it's totally normal that you're having dreams that reflect anxiety about labor and birth.  Is having a hard/long labor a concern for you during waking hours?  I have weird L&D dreams too, I had one last week that I posted about where I was unconscious when I gave birth and when I came to my doctor didn't know which baby was mine.  The night after our childbirth class my husband had a dream that he had to build me a birthing center!  So yeah...the strange labor dreams are definitely not just you.

  • I had a bad dream last night about having a c/s.  It was very strange and unsettling, but now it's all a blur.  I do remember the doctor pulling hot dogs out of me after the baby was born (I have never ever liked hot dogs...).
  • Did you watch Oprah last week when she was in Australia or see previews for it? lol, that might be why your OB was a kangaroo and had an Australian accent.

I have really odd dreams too, although I can never remember them when I wake up but they are strange enough to give me weird vibes when I wake up.

  • Ally, no I didn't watch Opera last week. I think my doc was a kangaroo because DH and I were talking about how kangaroo babies crawl the the mothers pouch. We got in an in depth conversation about it. Weird.

  • Ohmygosh, you're funny!  I think it's pretty normal to have weird dreams - I've had several about my baby coming out talking - but nothing with a kangaroo.  That is hilarious.
