Cloth Diapers?

Re: Cloth Diapers?

  • Birth and Beyond is the best option in Seattle.   But, their selection is not very good.  I've also heard that Target carries Bum Genius.  I've bought all of mine online.  I like babycottonbottoms.com, nickisdiapers.com, and jilliansdrawers.com.

Do you know what kind you are looking to buy?

Congrats on your choice to cloth diaper, it is so fun and gets very addicting!

  • Loading the player...
  • I'm really not sure what kind I want...  I was just going to check some out and see which ones look best.  Maybe buy a few that look good and see how I like them.

I'm hoping to breastfeed, and I wonder if some diapers work better with looser breastfed baby poo? (Now that is a random question that would not have occurred to me 12 months ago).

  • LOL at your looser stool question.  Just you wait.  After almost 7 months I continue to be shocked at how poop is an every day conversation around here...

I think honestly the difference in each kid is a wider swing than FF vs BF as far as what works and containment.  From what I gather (we BF too), BF is the simplest washing as FF poo is not water soluable.  They should both be pretty runny while they're young although some BF babies can go up to 5 days between poos (not our experience).

Birth and Beyond has a cloth diapering class.  That may be a good place to start.  Also, some of the cloth diapering websites offer trial packages so you can buy an assortment to try (jillliansdrawers is who I believe does that).  If you do go to B&B, just keep in the back of your mind that within fitteds, pockets and All in One's, there are many more brands out there than they have available to sell.

Another good place for recearch is diaprepin.com.  There are forums and also a link from their gateway page to diaper reviews.

We started with Kissuluv 0's when dd was a newborn with Thirsties covers over them.  That combination worked very well for us, and I had leaking issues with prefold and pockets that I tried.  My SIL found that her DD was wetting through the kissuluv's and ended up using primarily prefolds and pockets...

  • we are going to a cloth diapering class at birth & beyond today - i think its $10 or $20 to go, and that money can all be applied to a purchase of cloth diaper supplies at birth & beyond. i am planning to go, get good information & ideas about what will work best for us, and then doing most of our purchasing online once we know more.

?it's exciting, but it does seem like there is so much to learn - i'm really glad we found an option where we can actually see and experience some of the options before we commit to buying a stash.?

  • We got some of our BumGenius at Target. They also have big lots you can buy online. We did cottonbabies.com.
