...and it didn't hurt!
For reference, that's the needle you draw the oil up with for PIO, but usually (at least in my experience) switch to a smaller needle for the actual injection. Which is how we always did it with my 17P shot too (different formulation of progesterone in oil which helps prevent preterm labor). Except they only gave me 19 gauge, and when I questioned the nurse she assured me that's what they use in the office, that 22 gauge (what I'd used before and what everyone who takes 17P said they use) is too small and would hurt more because it would be too difficult to force the oil out, etc. So I said we'd give it a shot but if it hurt I'd be asking for 22 gauge needles and she said no problem (she offered to leave some for me at the desk but then they didn't have them). I mostly didn't want to argue with her or question her because I don't want to alienate anyone at the OB's office since I"m already such a high maintenance patient.
I was pretty much having a panic attack before - I still can't believe it didn't hurt! Didn't even feel it go in.
Hoping that is always the case!
Re: DH just stabbed me with a 19 gauge needle...
You are my hero.
I stuck myself with a 19G once and I couldn't walk for days.
This happened to me before and I will warn you that it might hurt when you wake up tomorrow morning. My a$$ stuck for a little while the next day.
