Anyone's DD have their ears pierced?

I want to get DD's done for her birthday there is a place by us, where 3 girls do it at the same time (one holds her head steady and the other two girls pierce the ears) and I was going to put some EMLA cream on her ears before. Am I crazy. I got mine done when I was 5, and I rememeber I got a nice treat afterwards, so it didn't phase me a bit.

How old were your DD's when they got it done? How did they react?



Dx: PCOS, Anovulation, RPL

BFP # 2 - February 2011-(1500mg Met, HCG Injection) Missed M/C at 10w1d, discovered at 10w3d, D&C at 11w...RPL testing came back all normal.

Trying again. June 2011 - Clomid/1500 mg Met / Baby Aspirin - BFFN!

July 2011 Femara/1500mg Met/ Baby Aspirin - c/p

August 2011 - Femara/1500mg Met/ Baby Aspirin - c/p

September 2011 - Puregon/ 1500mg Met/ Baby Aspirin - BFFN!!!!

    You're signing up for way more work than I would at this age (my dd is almost the exact same age as yours).

    When I got mine done ~5 yrs old, there was massive issues of infection, constant cleaning, crying, etc.

    I won't even allow DD to get hers done until like 11 or 12 - IMO, its a permanent thing that I don't want her to do out of pressure that other girls have it.

    I had mine pierced when I was an infant. I had DD's pierced when she was 10 months old. She actually had them pierced in the operating room while under anesthesia for a simple procedure. I figured this was a good time because she would be under and it would be sterile. We have had no problems at all. She even sits completely still when I change them;)

    I think that you will find that peoples' opinions will vary.

    I think they look cute, and all, but most likely will not be getting Gwen's pierced anytime soon. Actually we have no plans on getting them done at all until she begins asking, and then we will talk about if and when it would be appropriate.

    I got Reagan's done when she was 9 months at the pedi.  She only cried because the doctor held her head down to thoroughly clean her ears.  She hasn't bothered them since.  In fact we have had no issues with infection or anything else since.  We plan on doing the same with the new baby.

    Hmmm, I should have done EMLA cream, but I never thought of it! We had DD"s done when she 6 months old. She cried for about 30 seconds after each side. I had mine pierced when I was 5 (My mom took me when I was 4, and I was so excited. Then I saw the gun and freaked out, so we tried again at 5, lol). I wanted to get hers done early. Plus I think it's darn cute.

    Alana's were done two days before her 1st birthday, by her pedi.  I think being held tightly (by me) was worse for her than the actual piercing.  She cried for about a minute and, by the time I had her back in her stroller to leave, she was perfectly fine.  We have had absolutely no problems with infection and she doesn't touch them at all.
