Re: hypoallergenic formula feeders - quick ?

  • We gave the twins Nutramagin (haha everyone spells it differently! I always look it up, swear I will remember and then never do). We had WIC for them because that formula was waaaay too expensive to buy for 2 babies! Anyway, that was the one WIC allowed so that is why we gave that. Also, I always see Nutramagin at the store but not the other one, however I was never looking for it.... I really don't think there is a difference between the two but I could be wrong!

  • Niether... we use Elecare, mainly because it was the easiest to get and it was recommended by our allergist.

  • Nutramigen. That is what my pedi put her on.

  • We tried Alimentum and ds did horrible on it. We now use elecare and it works great.

I could be totally wrong here, but I think Elecare is the next step for a baby if Nutramigen/Alimentum doesn't work.

  • Asher is on Alimentum, but every time I buy it at the grocery store (any major store) the register spits out a coupon for $10 off Nutramigen. So, I would try out Nutramigen, you'll probably get more coupons. I have an open can of Nutramigen my bff gave me. Her daughter hated the taste and refused to drink it. If you want it, I don't need it. I think Asher might need Elecare, we'll find out at our allergist appt.

  • I think it depends on your baby! We have tried every formula made by Enfamil and tried every formula made by Similac. Alimentum is the only formula DS doesn't projectile vomit! Nutramigen came back up as quick as it went down. (sorry for the visual) He has horrible reflux! Try them both... that's my opinion! We only supplement every once and awhile... don't know if that make a difference?
