At what point...

do you stop inviting family to DC's birthday party? The last two years, we've done huge parties for DD's birthday at our home, inviting grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. This year, I am thinking of doing a kid-themed party at a local yoga studio. For a great rate, the studio will decorate and provide activities for a modest number of children. But it definitely wouldn't be fun or interesting for any of my extended family (my youngest nephews will be 17 by then). Do I just go ahead with this plan or appease the family for one more year?

In case it matters at all, the number of family members I am talking about is about 17 people, all adults, and I live in an apartment, not a big house with a yard.

Re: At what point...

  • In our family we will always have to invite the family so if we want a kid's party we will need to either have the one party be huge, or throw two parties. My siblings have started to have two parties. Cake and ice cream on the child's birthday night with the family and a party later on a weekend.
