Trouble TTC

I'm new & would like your opinion

Hi Ladies,  I have been lurking on and off for awhile, so I figured I'd say hi.  We have been TTC for a year and a half and have been through various issues with an RE, such as the removal of a polyp and an inflammation of my uterine lining.  Other than that, all the normal tests, b/w have come back okay.  Last month was my first IUI.  I took Femera and everything went well that cycle.  Unfortunately I did not get pregnant.

This month I went for an ultrasound on CD3 for my next IUI.  Well, they found a very large cyst and said I could wait to see if it goes away, or go on bc pills.  I rejected bc and figured we'd just try on our own this month.  But, I am crushed and not sure if I did the right thing. I am also uneasy about the fertility meds causing a cyst and if I want to do that again.  Opinions??  I guess I am just generally discouraged and confused and sick of all this.  I'm sure a lot of you go through this and it pretty much sucks.

Anyway, thanks for reading if you got this far and good luck to all of you!!

  • Unfortunately, like any medical treatment or medication, there is always potention side effects.  You have to weight whether the benefits (increasing chance of getting pregnant) out weight the side effects (i.e. cysts in this case).  Only you know if it is worth it.  Best of luck.

  • Sorry about your cyst.  I am dealing with the same thing.  I opted for the BCP because the doc said hopefully it will shorten the time until I can cycle again.  GL. I hope your cyst goes away soon.

  • Unfortunately cysts are a common side effect.  I have had a forced break due to a cyst(s) after four of my past five IUI cycles.  I've either sat the cycle out on my own (no BCP or anything) if the cyst wasn't active, or they had me to an Ovidrel trigger shot to force the cyst to collapse if it was active (producing estrogen).

    Good luck!

  • For many the cysts just happen with treatment. I think waiting it out is a good option. BCP are a good option too. A horse a piece in my opinion. Hang in there the first break cycle I had for a cyst was worse than a bfn for me. It felt so hopeless!
