Gwen is COVERED with the rash... poor thing toes to chin. and is miserable. WE texted a pic to our pedi derm, and she is getting her in in March. In the mean time, we are to use one of two moisturizers.
Mustela Dermapro Pediactric, or CeraVe.
Anyone recommend either one?
I feel so bad for her, but it is ALL. OVER. HER. little body. We have done the switch to free and clear detergent, ect, She is on hypoallergenic formula, and we will not start solids until 6 months.
Re: Eczema and moisturizer...
I am reading that about the water temp. We do not use HOT water, but I do give her warmer baths... do you give your DS fewer baths than normal in the winter, or when he has a flare?
talk to melissa (germanwife2b) she might have a good suggestion, she sent me info about a product.
I havent used it yet, but I am interested!
My DS has terrible eczema behind his knees and on the tops of his feet. We have been using a mild steroid cream on and off for a while - regular moisturizer did nothing (we tried cetaphil and aquaphor and nothing). BUT I just found a new Aveeno product: Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing cream, and it is amazing! We haven't needed the steroid cream in weeks, and DS's skin looks better than I can remember it looking.
We give baths every other night, or every third night, especially in winter, and we use the fragrance free aveeno soap.
Good luck! I find eczema to be so frustrating and awful - and poor DS just scratches and looks miserable. Hope you find something that works for you
THIS-i haven't used it on my LO yet (obvi!
), but my FIL swears by this stuff and it's super gentle.

I would try to find another dermatologist. IMO a month wait is ridiculous. If you don't want to do that, I would recommend seeing if your pediatrician will prescribe some cortizone that is more concentrated than what is available OTC. Mine prescribed some, but since his eczema didn't get better, we then went to a dermatologist.
Lucas had pretty bed eczema last year, but not nearly as bad as your LO. We used the Aveeno baby wash and Cereve lotion. Sometimes I used Aquaphor too. First, I would rub in the cortizone creme and then coat it with Aquaphor.
I hope you LO feels some relief soon.
Izzy gets eczema patches- somewhat mild compared to what your LO is going through... but our pedi reccommended Aquaphor (by Eucerin). It comes in a circle tub. It always seems to work for her... her patches are usually gone in a couple days when I lather it on her.
Also, luke warm baths like the pp's say work best. I was told to only bath her every 2-3 days and that seems to help too.... especially in the winter!
