Grunting/Tossing in sleep...

DS just started sleeping in his big crib 2 nights ago (he's 3 weeks old and is a preemie - born at 34 weeks). We usually hold him until he's really OUT then swaddle him and lay him down in the crib, then keep an eye on him on his monitor. It seems like the whole time he's stleeping he's grunting and tossing and turning (gassy) but he's definitely asleep! Eyes are closed the whole time and it never turns into crying until he gets hungry. I just feel terrible because it seems like such a disruptive way to sleep. Do you think they mind or even notice? Anyone else's LO sleep like this??

  • Totally normal. DD sounds like a trucker :)

  • My DS just recently started doing this less.  But yes, I thought I had a bear in the crib - not a baby - for a while.
  • Yep! My 6 week old does it all the time and it drives me crazy...I feel the same way you do...they can't possibly be getting good sleep!! But I haven't found anything to make it stop...a lot of girls on here ask about grunting and it seems to be pretty common

  • DD2 is a very noisy sleeper. She sounds like a freaking starving pig with all the snorting and grunting she does.

  • My 16 days old baby does the same too! No way we can sleep beside her, because she just makes too much noise. She twists and grunts non stop sometimes and I thought that there is no way she can get rest this way...but I guess its normal if everybody seem to say the same thing.
