just got the diagnosis

This is my first time venturing on the PPD board. I've been trying to aviod it, but I now know that having the support of other moms is pretty amazing. My son is 4 months old and 2 Weeks ago I was diagnosed with PPD. I knew something was wrong, but thought I could work through it by myself. Boy was I wrong. My hubs and I were fighting ALL the time(we never used to fight) and I would cry myself to sleep because I felt worthless...like I was a bad mom. Thankfully I realized that I needed help and my doctor put me on Lexapro. I already feel so much better, but she told me to find support and what is better than finding support in my bump friends.

    I took Lexapro too and did great on it. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask. I needed it for about 11 months and weaned off slowly around DS's birthday.

    I also found that therapy helped. I only did it for a little while, but it still was a huge help. Having someone to talk to makes all the difference. This place can be great too- although it is a little slow here.

    Good for you for seeing a doctor and doing what you needed to to take care of yourself. I know how hard it is!

    First off GREAT job getting help. Hardest and biggest step. I take Celexa (very similar to Lexapro and love it) It saved my life and relationship with DD.Side effects....pretty much none. But the bump has helped so much!
