Have to AW what we just won!

I am sooo excited!

We took the kids to the Halloween carnival at our church this evening, and they were auctioning off all this cool stuff. ?One of the items was round trip tickets on American Airlines to anywhere in the world. ?We decided to bid on it just for fun, thinking surely someone would outbid us. ?We ended up getting them for $500 a piece. ?We're shocked they didn't go any higher than that! ?I mean, that's insanely cheap if we decide to go somewhere like China, right? ?This is exactly what DH and I need because we keep saying we're going to plan a trip for just us, and it never happens. ?(It's actually really sad how long it's been since we've had a real vacation). ?Now we *have* to go somewhere, and we have to do it within the year. ?Sooo, where do you think we should go?

    I would go to Scotland and Ireland or maybe Australia.  (My choices, obviously).

    that's so cool!  Paris is so on my list.  What kind of vacay are you looking for?  Kid-friendly?  Or a getaway for you and DH?

    that is a great prize!  Wow there are so many places I want to go, I dont know how I would ever decide.

    Australia is great!  We went when I was in high school.

    I would probably choose, Scotland or somewhere else in Europe.

    No offense to my kids, but a big fat "HELL NO!" - it'll just be DH and me!

    See, I'd love to go to Italy or Ireland (we did France many years ago), but the thing is, you can usually find tickets for about $500 to Europe in the off-season. ?We want it to be somewhere we may not have normally chosen, and somewhere far enough that the $500 we're paying will be an extremely good deal. ?We're thinking maybe Australia, New Zealand, South Africa.....who knows....?

    I am so dumb when it comes to international travel...what if AA doesn't fly into someplace like New Zealand, can you still go there?  Sorry, maybe that's a dumb question.

    China or India or New Zeland, here I would come!  Have fun picking the destination and then actually going!  DH gave me a trip anywhere in the world for my birthday, but I can't go until new baby is a year old :-)

    Ooooh, that's awesome and I'm JEALOUS! I'd love to go anywhere right about now.

    How about Turkey? I don't think they've adopted the Euro yet (I could be wrong about that, though) so your dollar would still go far there and it's a pretty freaking amazing country. I spent some time in Istanbul about 10 years ago and was blown away. I've done some traveling on the Asian side of Turkey, too (Troy and Pergamon) and my DH traveled all around the country before we met. It's very cool.

    I'd also love to go to the far East. DH is Korean so I'd love to see Korea. I feel like I haven't traveled in so long. Really, I'd just like to leave the country again!

    I would like to say Europe or Australia but those are places I'd pay to go to.  We went to Japan last year (my DH had to work there and we went for 2 weeks on GM's dime).  It is a place I would not spend "our" $$ on because it is not my idea of a vacation.  I'm more into tropical.  It was very nice though...and cheap!  If I were you I'd pick a place you wouldn't want to spend the money to go to.  BTW...my oldest DD is going to Australia and the plane fare is $2,600.

    I'd go over to the travel board if I were you and either lurk for awhile or post your question there. Those ladies would probably have some great suggestions.

    I am late to this.... but i'd say somewhere really far if you have more than a week for your vacation.

    We've been to Thailand, I loved it. Highly recommend it. We flew through Seoul and unfortunately did not get out of the airport, I wish we had a day or two there. Also, I'd love to go to Hong Kong or China....  and Japan.
