**Slacy**

I was wondering, do people usually spell Elliott's name right?

Do they get confused as to one vs. two t's?

Which is the more popular spelling, or which do people usually assume it is, Elliot or Elliott?

Thanks! (This is my only hesitation with the name but I'm leaning towards Elliot or Ben/Benjamin, backups Jack or Wil/William)

:)

I know 2 Elliott's IRL and both have 2 T's. The only one with 1 T that I know of is that former New Jersey governor. :)

  • I spelled my Elliot with one T.  I think the name is spelled with one T and two Ts pretty evenly, at least from what I've seen.  Kinda like Sarah with an H or Sara without an H.  I've not had a problem with people getting confused on the Ts.  They just get confused that she's a girl and her name is Elliot.  lol!

We struggled with this, but I figured in the long run, just being able to tell people, "Double L double T" was an easy way to remember it.

So we have an Elliott.  Ppl get confused at first, but I kept saying my little mantra, above, and we've had no problems, lol!

  • I'd say it's about 50/50 that people get it right. Mine is "2 L's 2 T's". I think it is the more traditional spelling and I liked the way it looked better than with just one t. It hasn't bothered me too much - I'm a Sara and people have misspelled my name my whole life!

  • I looked on the soc. sec. website, and Elliot is a little more popular.  I like Elliott better--the L's & T's seem symmetrical.
