So upset!! Almost in tears!! NBR

SO I was sooooo excited I found the cutest pink recliner rocker with ottoman to put in the little girls room!!..I found it on Craigslist for 40 bucks and I have seen them at different places for around 400!!..Anyway we go pick it up yesterday and it is gorgeous like I hoped & I had it sitting in my living room until I could make room for it in the bedroom!!..well oldest DD was coloring in a coloring book and I look down and younger DD had a GREEN MARKER and colored all over it!! I seriously almost cried!!...I sprayed some shout on it and DH threw the cover in the washer!!..I think the crayons are washable.... Do you think it will come out?? or does anyone know anything good to get stains out??

The only thing that makes me feel better is that we only spent 40 dollars on it vs. 400 because then I would have flipped out!!.....

  • Oxi clean possibly? That is usually my go to for stains and it works well. I would just test it on a small piece first to make sure it doesn't wreck it further.

  • ughh I am going to check it as soon as it is done but I am almost afraid to look!!..If it didnt come out I will definetly try the shaving cream thing....I dont have any oxi clean at the moment but I dont know if it would ruin it or not....it is pretty light pink color??....

It seems like I have heard that hair spray will get stains out...has anyone else heard that or am I crazy??? lol

  • Hair spray will get ink out but I haven't tried it with markers. Couldn't hurt!
  • check it after it it's done washing, if it's not out DO NOT put it in the dryer!!    Then try hairspray on it...

  • Double check it for stains before you put it in the dryer. The heat would set the stain. Check howtocleananything.com- they might have some other ideas under the stain removal section.

  • My SIL is the worlds best at getting stains out, (she has 5 kids) she has even got dried blood out af a white shirt. Anyway, she swears by cold water. Just let the cover soak in cold water over night if the stain hasn't come out yet and be sure not to dry it until it's out.

  • you can always call the company that made the markers to see if they have any tips to get it out.. dont dry it tho!
  • Just took the cover from the washer and IT CAME OUT!!! :) Completely!!!!

Thank goodness!!!.....Thank all of you ladies for your help and tips!!! :)

  • ERA gets a lot of stains out....the only thing is is that sometimes it does take the color out.  Not always but sometimes....usually I use it when it gets to the point that I might throw the thing out anyway...and I try it and it works most of the time.

  • If it's a bad stain I usually put oxi clean in a bucket with water and soak it for a couple days. Then I throw it in the wash and check it when it's done before drying it. It always gets the stain out. Sometimes it makes the color a little more dull but I figure that's better than whatever the stain looks like.

  • I'm sorry that happened. :( You should see MY recliner - once lovely tan, now more brownish with who-knows-what and marker marks all over it. It's my DD's recliner now! It's in her bedroom with some of her blankets thrown over it. She can do as she wishes with it. Good thing I only spent $80.00. I wish I had spent less, though! Eeeek!

  • Glad to hear it came out! I answered the phone yesterday in the kitchen, and the time it took me to go from the living room to the kitchen and back to the living room, DS had gotten 4 crayons (I think they were non-washable ones) and colored the cream colored cushion on our glider! I used a magic eraser and it got it out! I was surprised, but those things seem to work great on almost everything!
