Question about Clomid when already ovulating...

Maybe I don't understand fully the use of Clomid...but, I have a "normal" 25 day cycle and get +OPKs every cycle.

DH's SA came back normal, all my b/w has come back normal (thyroid and CD2) and my HSG was clear as well.

RE suggested I wait for this cycle to end and start Clomid next cycle. Does this make sense if I already ovulate? I was under the impression this was for those who doesn't ovulate or who have irregular cycles??

I don't ovulate regularly on my own which is I take Clomid, but I think it can be used to strengthen ovulation in woman that ovulate on their own. But I have also read that it is pointless for woman who do ovulate. So it sounds like I am really not sure. Good Luck to you!

I ovulate regularly too, but I did four rounds of Clomid. Like PP said, it can strengthen ovulation, make you ovulate 2 or 3 follicles, and can also improve egg quality.

As long as you're monitored, it's a pretty common and non-invasive first step.

It's usually the first treatment option for unexplained infertility. My RE explained it's like getting 2-3 months of trying in one shot... it is a way of being more aggressive without having to resort to the really expensive more aggressive methods.

I ovulate ever month and have a textbook 28 day cycle. I was put on Clomid twice and now Femara in hope to produce more and better follies. Thats how it was explained to me. Just because you O every month doesn't always mean your follies are mature enough for fertilization. Hope this helped a little!

I think if you are younger, it's reasonable to do just Clomid, then add IUI, etc. But if you are older (35+) or have already been trying awhile, or just want to be more aggressive it makes sense to be do Clomid + IUI. Since I fall in the second group, we did IUI on the first cycle of Clomid. After 18 months of trying, I want to make the most out of each attempt. Otherwise it's a few cycles with Clomid, a few cycles with Clomid + IUI, a few cycles with injectables with IUI's and then we're 9 months further along.

This is what we are doing. I also ovulate on my own but because it's less invasive they are hoping that doing clomid with IUI will finally get me a BFP. Good luck on whatever you decide to go with!

I did an IUI with my first cycle of Clomid. I O on my own also. I figured if it gives me a better chance, why not? Although if I were younger I might have just tried the Clomid alone first.
