Success after IF

NSAIFR: anyone have a Furminator?

I have officially reached my limit with dealing with the dog hair in our house (we have a Springer Spaniel...HUGE shedder). I vacuum and mop every day and it is still not under control and I can't take it anymore.

I've heard great things about the Furminator for helping to reduce shedding, just wondering if anyone here has had success with it?

Re: NSAIFR: anyone have a Furminator?

  • I don't know that it reduces shedding per se, but it really does work.  We get tons of fur off of our dogs and cats (we have 2 of each).  If we actually had time to brush them on a regular basis though perhaps we'd see a reduction.

  • Funny you should ask! I just borrowed one from a coworker. Though, I can't give you are review since our Chihuahuas would not let me near them with it. They hate getting brushed, etc.

My coworker breeds Schnauzers and swears by it.

  • I have one (we have two Labs) and it is a MUST for heavy shedders.  It really works and is totally worth the money.  You have to use it regularly though.  I am always shocked by how much fur it removes.

  • We have one, it does work we just never use it.  If I used it once every 6 weeks (I think that's the recommendation) and did regular brushings we'd have an easier time.  I just don't do it and then b!tch about the dog hair.

  • We have one for our Golden & it's fantastic!!  Like PP said, you have to use it frequently for it to do any good.  Don't buy one from a pet store or your vet though.  They're like $50 + there.  I bought mine brand new on Ebay and paid $11.00!
  • We have 2 Golden Retrievers and dark wood floors - regular use of the Furminator helps out a ton.  If we get lazy with using it, our house turns into a nightmare.

  • We have one.  We have 2 Chesapeake Bays and a Chihuahua.   We also struggle with using it enough (i.e. on a consistent regular basis) to really make a difference in their shedding.  I still run my Dyson on the first  floor of our house every.single.day. Even with me using the Dyson and using the Furminator (not on a regular basis) my kid still gets dog hair on her clothes when she plays.

Oh...and dh refuses to let me use the furminiator in or even near our house.  I have to go way out in the yard and bag up the hair that comes out.  All I have to say is holy pet hair batman!

  • It is worth every penny, IMO.  We were dumb and bought it right after it came out, full price.  I've seen them at Homegoods for much, much cheaper.  I get a ridiculous amount of hair off of our dog (Husky/Chow mix), and I see a huge decrease in the amount of dog hair around the house when we use it regularly.

It is probably the fifth or sixth dog brush that we've purchased, and nothing even comes close to it.
