Juice CLICKY

Re: Juice CLICKY

  • The juice rules kinda changed over the years. I can remember my 21 year olds Pediatrician telling me to give her a full sippy cup of juice at 6 months old and he gave me samples of the yogurt juice when she was 4 months old Surprise. Over the years it has gone down more and more until now most Pediatricians recommend none or very little.

  • It depends on the juice and why we're giving it. If it's for constipation, he gets 100% apple juice. If it's a treat, he gets anywhere from 25-75% juice. Out to dinner and it comes with the meal (juice box) he can have the box straight without watering it down.

Right now he has pom-mango and I put about 30% juice in a cup, more to lighten the flavor than anything. I don't mind him getting fruit sugar as long as there's no additional sugar, and it's in moderation.

  • I have to give DD juice at almost full force (100%) because she has constipation problems (even if she eats all the right foods and drinks plenty of water)

The other kids I watch I usually dilute 50% to 25%- as long as the water has juicy taste to it so that they would drink it.

Juice is one of the addictive foods for babies so staying away from it is always a good idea. They will get plenty of sugar in fruits and other foods...

  • I usually do 100% of apple juice, but any other juice I do 50/50 with water.

This.  DD hates it for some reason and will throw it across the room and say "NO!"  Suits me fine if she wants to stick with water and milk for now.

  • DS doesn't like straight water, so I usually do 25% apple juice.

  • We don't give it to her, but she gets some at daycare with her afternoon snack.   It's no sugar added fruit juice and I think they give it to them undiluted.   I wouldn't choose to give her juice, but it doesn't bother me that she has it at daycare.
  • In AM we fill a large sippy cup with half juice and half water.  Throughout the day, we just top-off the cup with water, so basically after she drinks the 50/50, she just gets water the rest of the day.

  • I'm not against giving juice once in awhile but we've tried all different kinds, watered down and not watered down and DD takes one sip, throws the cup down, and looks at me like I just tried to poison her. I'm happy if she'll just drink water, we have a hard time getting her to drink anything other than soy milk.

  • My kids' dentist says no juice and I agree.
  • Our DS looooooves water, so we don't see a reason to give the added sugar in juice.

  • On the very rare occasion my kids have juice (usually at parties or as a treat), I just give them the juice box straight.  I honestly don't have a big problem with juice but DD#1 can't handle much juice or fruit in general.  She still cannot have apple juice at all.  Poor kid.  Anyway, when they have juice, it's usually a juice box and I just give it to them straight...including DS Indifferent
  • We give 1 sippy with 50% juice each day.  The ped wants us to b/c of constipation issues.

  • Just depends on the situation and which juice we are giving DD and her cousins.

This. He drinks water like it is going out of style.

  • No juice here... DD looooooves water and never was interested in it, so I figure why push it?  Water is so much better for her anyway.  We stick to that and plenty of whole milk (20 oz or more) a day.
