Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Almost a week after D & E...

Hello,

It's been almost a week after my D and E (I had it last Sunday) ..and I didn't have much bleeding until yesterday and today.  It's pretty heavy and the cramping has come back.  IS this normal?  Or should I be getting better?  Should I call my OB?

Re: Almost a week after D & E...

  • My heavy bleeding and cramping came about 4 days after my D&C, but I bled and had AF type cramps for almost a full 2 weeks after wards. I was also told I could bled for up to a whole month so, all things considered it wasn't too bad. I'd say what you're going through is normal but if you are concerned, a quick phone call wouldn't hurt.

  • Mine went from spotting to heavier on and off. I actually didn't get AF until 2 months and a day since I had my D&C and I actually bled and spotted all the way up to a week before I got AF. So... About a month and 3 weeks of bleeding for me. Not heavy, but annoying non-the-less. I didn't have cramping until a few days after as well, so it's probably normal, but yeah just call if you still have doubt.

  • Okay...so I may sound stupid.  BUt how do you know when it is really AF and not just bleeding from the procedure?

That is a good question!  I have been bleeding/spotting for 4 weeks now since d&c.  I know it can be normal but I am so frustrated as it is a constant reminder that there is no baby anymore and I still have a positive HPT....grrrr.  I am calling dr. on Monday to see if they can tell me if there is something to speed this process up or what.  My dr. told me I would bleed/spot for 7-10 days after d&c.....ummm, yeah sure!
