Anniversary local getaway ideas?

I'm in need of ideas for my 5 year Anniversary. Although I'd LOVE to take a big trip somewhere, it's just not in the budget with baby on the way. Any ideas on a mini stay somewhere in Indiana?

  • French Lick, Brown County (although more fun in the fall), a B&B somewhere or a nice hotel downtown such as the conrad or the new JW Mariott that I think opens in Feb.

  • When is your anniversary?  I would say go up to Lake Michigan/the Dunes, but that will only be fun when it's warm.
  • We celebrate our 5 years as well this year (July) -  I'm looking at an indoor/outdoor waterpark.....great wolf lodge or the one on the northside of indy.   That way we have something to do during the day, out to eat at night, and then alone time at the hotel!   Just have to get my mom to watch DS that night.
  • If budget is a concern, French Lick is probably out.  It's close to $300/night or it was when we looked at it for our honeymoon.  I'd recommend pricelining a hotel in downtown Indy.  There's loads of great things to do in Indy and I feel like I always forget the stuff right in my own backyard.

Or if you like hiking and natural park areas, check out a State Park.  Turkey Run has some great areas for hiking and has a nice lodge, as does Mc Cormick's Creek and Spring Mill.  You might also check out Madison, IN.  It's a great small town and Clifty Falls State Park is right there.  I think it's one of the prettiest state parks IN has.
