WWYD?
Ds spiked a fever this afternoon - a surprising 102.5. He was acting happy as a clam (most of the time), ate well and seems ok...except for the fever, which was reduced after some tylenol in the afternoon, and some mild diahrea.
It's past the time for his next dose and he is sleeping. He was crying out in his sleep and is really warm to the touch. I stood over his crib and rubbed his back and he never woke up, though.
Should I wake him, knowing he has a fever, or wait until he wakes up on his own?
Thanks,
Becky
Re: Would you wake for tylenol?
I called the doctor this afternoon after I first took his temp and they told me he doesn't need to be seen unless it goes to 105, he's lethargic and won't eat, is super fussy, or if it just doesn't "feel right." As of now, the only symptom is the fever and a little bit of diahrea.
He must have known I was asking because he woke up just as I typed my last reply!
I did change him and take his temp - 101.9. Gave him some more tylenol and a lot of love and he's back to sleep.
And just when we had our first two nights of STTN...finally! Doh! Daycare strikes again...
My pedi also says to call at 105 or any of the other reasons that you mention. Also, I'm supposed to call if it's about 102 and Motrin/Tylenol aren't helping to bring it down.
Sounds like the Tylenol is helping. Hopefully he'll feel better in the morning.
I feel you on the STTN!!! DD has been trying to STTN since about 6 mo but everytime she gets in a routine of doing it she ends up getting sick and then we have to start all over. Luckily, the older she's getting, the less time it takes her to get back to STTN. She was sick last weekend and up about 80 times Friday night. By Wednesday she was back to STTN and last night she slept from 8:30 to 8:30!
Thanks for letting me know! Hopefully we'll be back to it soon too. I didn't want to even write or say anything about STTN b/c I was afraid of jinxing it! We're desperate for sleep after 8 months of getting up at night.
