Saw/heard my neighbor on my video monitor!

I have an older Summer day/night video monitor. I knew that could happen but freaked me out! I'm going to put in on the B channel for now but want a new one. I think they have a digital one that won't share frequency.. anyone have recommendations? I think I'm going to look at the Summer Slim and Secure.

LOL!

I was outside shoveling with my monitor in my pocket while DS napped. First I heard a baby talking (and it wasn't my son) and then I heard the dad! When I looked at the monitor I saw them in my neighbor's son's room!

Any monitor that operates on a 900Mhz or 2.4Ghz frequency could have that problem, which is why we had a really hard time finding a monitor (my husband refused to use one on either of those frequencies since you can use a scanner and hear monitors on those frequencies). We ended up finding one monitor that used DECT 6.0 and by all the research we did on that frequency, it's not easily accessible with a scanner and multiple units won't pick way other up. Ours was a Safety 1st one but they discontinued them. You might be able to find one on EBay still (thats where we got ours, new in box).

The only reason we didn't get one, the idea of someone being able to see/hear into the baby's room ::shudder::

I don't have any recs, but you could always set up a web-cam and watch from your laptop. Less handy but it's private.

omg! That would have me freaked too! I have 2 of them. I don't think any of my neighbors would be having video monitors anytime soon at least I hope.

That happened to my sister. She had put the monitor in the nursery- before my nephew was born to test it out. She saw some random baby in a crib. She was like ????????
