May be moving to your neck of the woods, need help

Hi Ladies,

We are currently in Southern California and it looks like my husbands job may be taking us to the Chicago area in 4 to 6 months from now. Hawthorn Estates (?) to be more precise. Any recommendations on nice areas near there or places to try to avoid. We will be selling our house here and are looking to rent a house some where in the $2500 to $ 3000 range. Not super worried about school districts since it seems like a 2-3 year time frame before the next move.

Thanks in advance for any help you could offer!

  • I think its Hawthorne Woods that you're reffering to. And, while I'm not 100% positive exactly where it is, hopefully somebody else can chime in.

I'm pretty sure Libertyville, Gurnee, Lake Zurich, Wauconda, are all near by and as far as I know are good areas to be in.

  • Or are you thinking Hoffman Estates or Hawthorn Woods? Hawthorn Woods is a nice area, Lake Zurich, Wauconda, Vernon Hills, Libertyville, Long Grove are all near by and nice. Hoffman has some nice areas it is near Schaumburg, Barrington and is nice too.

  • If it's Hoffman Estates area, that is my neck of the woods.  Be careful cause some parts of Hoffman and Shcaumburg aren't the greatest.  St. Charles, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Wayne, Barrington and South Barrington are really nice areas.  But don't get me wrong HE and Schaumburg do have some nice single family home areas.  For that price you should be able to rent a nice home.  Heck with the foreclosures you could buy a home for that price.
