Upstate NY Babies

Ok.. so wanna hear our name choices?

Baby girl #2 will most likely be named either Natalie Ruth or Norah Ruth. Dh says that he doesn't want to rule out other names yet either.. but we haven't come up with any that we love as much as these. I honestly love them BOTH.. so I don't know how I'll decide.

  • love them both.  i don't know how to decide.  if it were me i would choose Norah just b/c of my dh's name.
  • Loading the player...
  • I really like them both- DH's top name choice was Natalie- he really really loves it.

Does popularity matter to you?  Natalie Portman seems like she is going to have a big year in the press so there might be a burst of little Natalies running around the same age.  That's just what comes to my mind first

  • I love Natalie... it would be on my list if we ever have a girl. Isn't MrsW naming her girl Natalie too?

I like Norah, because it's different.

Is Ruth a family name? I'm not big on it... but I think it's just because I have a great Aunt Ruth who is a total cranky old b!tch  ;)

  • LOVE both of them!!!  I do favor Norah a little more, as Natalie has gotten more common, but so has Evan :)

  • I love them both!  That's a tough choice, but if I had to choose, I would lean a little more in the direction of Norah.
  • I LOVE both of them!  I would have Natalie on our list but DH's name is Nathan and he thinks it's too similar (boo!).  I've mentioned Nora(h) to DH but I don't think he liked it much.

They're both great names, I don't think you can go wrong!  Would you let Eve choose the name between those 2?

  • Natalie was one of my top 2 when I was picking names!!  My friend just had a baby named Nora. I like them both!!
  • I like both of them! I don't think you can go wrong. And they both go well with Eve. Can't wait to hear what you decide!

  • Both are beautiful choices.

  • I prefer Natalie to Norah, but I think Norah flows better with Eve.  Good luck deciding!
  • I love them both as well! I think if I'd have to choose one - I'd lean towards Norah - its a little less common than Natalie and is softer to say than Natalie (but thats being nitpicky)
  • Those are both beautiful names!
  • Love them both....but you often call Eve, Evie. Natalie can be Nat or Nattie......what can Norah be?

Tough choice.....but I personally love how Natalie sounds with your last name!

  • Love love love Norah! If we ever had the chance of boy girl twins their names will be Nick and Nirah like in the old movie the thin man. In high school the girl that keyed my car was named Natalie so I can't give an impartial opinion.

  • Oh my gosh girls.. I love your opinions.. they are making me giggle.

My DH has had a HUGE crush on Natalie Portman for like.. a bajillion years.. I wonder why I never thought to give him a hardtime about this, since that was his top pick and mine was Norah, but now we both like them both.

And yes, Ruth is a family name.. It is DH's grandma.. Eve's middle name is my grandma.. Its not my world's favoritest name, but the way everyone talks about DH's grandma (she died about a year before I started dating DH) she sounds like this amazing incredible woman and he adored her.. So I love it for that reason.

  • Great names! I especially love Norah.  I think if we ever have a girl Eleanor (nn Nora) will be a top choice.  One of my bff's has a 2 year old named Natalie and it suits her really well.  I think it is a bit more popular than Norah, but Norah is rising pretty fast so they may even out.
  • So of course my vote is Norah! This is by FAR my number one girl name. I'm just so, so jealous it's on your list since DH vetoed it for me last time (because his cousin just had a Noah two months before Leah) - but he doesn't even get an option next time!

BUUUUTTTT - the only issue with it for me is that anytime I have told people I like it they always bring up how close it is to Dora. Boo to them. But it is something to consider, I guess.

Have you ever thought of Ruth for a first name?? I think it would be really cute with Eve since they are both very traditional.

I really like Natalie too - it's a win win for me!

  • I love Norah and Natalie!!!  Both are beautiful names.

  • I have a friend who has her baby girl named Norah and I really like it.  I like Natalie too, but do agree with a pp that Eve and Norah sound better together than Eve and Natalie.

Haha, she is definitely getting Natty Ice jokes in high school if you call her Nattie.

Nope, it's just the beer high schoolers drink.  Or at least the parties me and my friends went to.
