My doctor just called and said my latest HCG quant was down to 5, 3 weeks after my miscarriage. As you can imagine, I am very anxious to begin menstrating again, just to kind of seal some closure on our loss and build hope for the future. My OB wants to follow the levels to 0 and has asked my husband and I to wait to TTC again for two full cycles.
What has your experiences been with early m/c and falling HCG levels?
When have you noticed/ detected ovulation? (I'm charting my BBT)
When did AF return?
Thank you so much to anyone who can offer some insight or discussion
Re: early m/c, when can I expect AF?
I had 2 m/c last year, both with different doctor's (changed practices after the 1st m/c) and neither one followed my levels down. 1 was an early miscarriage and 1 was a late 1st trimester loss. Normally AF should arrive 4-6 weeks after a miscarriage although it could be more or less time than that.
After the 1st m/c, I had several days of VERY noticeable EWCM so I knew I was ovulating but that doctor had told us to wait 3 full cycles before trying again, but I don't remember when that was after the m/c. With the 2nd one, my dr told us to just wait until after my 1st AF arrived and we could try that cycle, so I did not track ovulation in between the D&C and my first AF. With the 2nd m/c AF arrived 4-1/2 weeks after the D&C. I want to say it was about the same time frame with the 1st one too and that was a natural m/c.
From what I have been reading lately, charting is very unreliable during the weeks after a m/c. Since your hormones are re-regulating themselves your temps will not be like a normal cycle.
I had an early miscarriage last month. I ovulated two weeks after my miscarriage. My period returned 30 days after my miscarriage. So, I thought that my body had returned back to "normal". However, this month, although my period arrived on time, I still have not ovulated (and based on previous cycles, I thought I would have by now). So, I guess my body is still working on getting back to normal.
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find this board as helpful as I have.
I'm sorry for your loss. During my last early m/c, my second to last beta was 6. I didn't go back for almost 2 weeks and then it was negative. I wasn't in a rush since we were told to TTA for one cycle.
I have never charted. I use the CBE 20-pack digital OPKs and it detected it slightly earlier after my m/c. (I think I was 15DPO and I was normally 17 or 18 prior to m/c).
AF returned about 4 weeks after I stopped bleeding. I bleed on and off for about 2 weeks.
I miscarried on Dec 8, at 5 weeks 3 days. Exactly 6 weeks after, AF came and it was the same way it was before. No cramping, not heavier, and lasted only 3 days.
My levels were back to under 5 after a week, from 2,191 the week before. I also only bled for one day during the mc and never had cramping at all. Everyone is different, but my doc told me anything over 6 weeks and they'll force you to have your period using drugs. Sorry about your loss, I know exactly what you're going through. :-(
