Anyone have large fibroids?
At my u/s, they discovered that my normally tiny 2 fibroids, are now 2 very large fibroids and 3 small-ish ones. They said they grow with estrogren increases when you are pregnant, but wouldn't talk to me about after-m/c care or a plan for them moving forward except to say that they would likely shrink after my loss. I have set a followup appointment for about 3.5 weeks from now, but in the meantime, wondering if anyone has them/has had them shrink back to "normal"/had them removed/etc. Could they have caused this? Will they create difficulties getting pregnant in the future?
I feel like I am focusing on these as something to blame for my pain, although i don't know if it is warranted.
Re: Fibroid question
I have one fibroid that was discovered the last time I miscarried. We waited for my hcg to go back down and had another ultrasound to check it out. By this time it had gone down for the most part.
Next, my Dr. wanted me to have an HSG done to get a better look at my uterus to see if the location of the fibroid would be a hindrance for future pregnancies. The radiologist didn't want to do the HSG until 6 months post-miscarriage, and my Dr. didn't see a reason to wait that long. They finally compromised and had me wait 4 months. Seemed like forever! So, I had the HSG in Dec. and everything looked good.
I hope they know what they're talking about. Our next step is IVF w/ PGD because of my DH's balanced translocation and the last thing I want to happen is spend all of this money (we're OOP) only to find out that the fibroid is in the way for implantation.
If they find yours need to be removed, you will have a lap done. I hope you get some answers and soon.
Best of luck!

I had 3 fibroids discovered during my last pregnancy. They weren't huge, but they did go down after the pregnancy. They were much smaller during the pregnancy when I lost my baby, but there was one that grew a bit. My doctor insisted it was not the cause of the miscarriage. They did mention that the fibroid could steal nutrition from the baby, though that is really rare. Most of the time they are just a nuisance, at worse causing discomfort or pain to the woman, but not affecting the baby. Apparently there is a lot of risk getting the fibroids removed when you still want to conceive, but I believe someone on here has gotten a procedure done. It's best to keep an eye on them, but it's likely they were not the cause of the miscarriage. I have had no problem getting pregnant with my fibroid.
I hope you are able to heal and move on, and one day have the baby you have always wanted. I know how painful and confusing it is. And no matter what anyone tells you, you will always wonder if something caused this. Hopefully you will get a healthy baby next time and won't need to wonder anymore.
FMJ:
I've had issues with fibroids for years. In 2005 I miscarried at 11 weeks after going through extreme pain. The fibroids grew to such immense sizes I had to have them removed some months later because they never diminished in size as expected. My OB then also said they were not the cause of the m/c
The procedure I had done was a myomectomy, where they cut along the bikini line, much like a c-section and cut away the tumors. I was told that I could still have babies but would have to try and conceive within two or three years or risk having the tumors grow back.
Well, the have grown back and I'm currently pregnant and it appears they're growing along with the baby but not yet to the point where the doc is worried about it.
Long and short is that the procedures don't guarantee that the fibroids do not return. All it did for me was regulate my periods and make it so I wasn't in a lot of pain all the time.
