Mattress pad for pack n' play?

Did you buy/registry for a mattress pad for your pack n'play? I haven't, should I?

Re: Mattress pad for pack n' play?

  • I've always just used an extra large waterproof pad for the PNP to protect it from accidents.  I like them because they can be used other places - on the floor, in the crib, on the bed, etc.

    This.  Can't have enough lap pads when they're itty bitty.  lol.

  • I had a waterproof one that didn't fit it very well but it did the job.

  • My husbands aunt bought me the pack and play, as well as an additional pad. But I'm not going to buy any additional ones, just use receiving blankets once I use it as a playpen

  • It's definitely good to have something that fits over the provided pad, just to protect from spit up/accidents/etc.  Receiving blankets won't work once baby starts moving around in it - they'll pull away from the edges.

  • I didn't b/c it already came with one but DD HATED it. It wasn't very comfortable. I like the idea of a thicker waterproof one. I may look into this for #2. I'm glad I read your post!

  • Yup. I didn't like the idea of DD sleeping on plastic. So we got the Organic cover from BBrUs. It's waterproof and pretty thick. I'm sure DD didn't really care. But I just set up the PnP for the new baby and the cover is looking very nice again : )

  • I just got mine in the mail yesterday and LOVE it.

    This is the one I got;

  • We have the quilted one that Graco sells that goes with the PNP. It got terrible ratings for getting shredded in the washer/dryer but I've washed it dozens of times and never had one problem (and I don't really sort laundry, so it's been washed with jeans and whatnot). I agree that initially you could use a pad or receiving blanket, but once they start squirming, you'll want something that fits tight over the corners.

  • I found one that is foldable at www.comfikids.com
  • I think they are nice to have when LO gets older and you are out of town for a few days.  I like that he has a little extra padding to sleep on.
