Hello, everyone -
I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with natural childbirth at Manchester Memorial Hospital, and how supportive of that the staff have been.
I'm also wondering if anyone has used OBGYN Group of Manchester and had a natural childbirth, and how supportive the doctors were.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Re: Natural Childbirth - Manchester area
They are very respectful of ur preferences. Also depends on your specific doctor. I talked to my doctor in advance that I wanted to avoid pain medecine as much as possible and specifically an epidural. If I did need pain medecine, I was interested in getting Stadol, which is just like a shot to help lower the pain but you can still feel it. (not numb like you are with an epidural).
I ended up holding out until 8 CM but then I couldn't take the pain anymore and needed Stadol. Everyone was respectful of my choice (altho for me I didn't think the pain was really THAT bad until 8 CM). If I had looked like I was struggling a ton and in a lot of pain, they might have tried to be more persuasive. but in my case, I didn't.
My doctor was respectful of my choice to avoid an epidural, although a bit skeptical that I could handle the pain on my own. In the end, I was handle to mostly handle all of it on my own and my doctor was really surprised and impressed. Even the nurses were telling me how impressed they were with my pain tolerance, haha. Guess I have a high pain tolerance!
Good luck to you! The nurses are all very sweet and excellent at Manchester Hospital. I highly recommend. I had a great experience. If you need a doctor rec, you can PM me if you'd like.
Thank you so much!
