WWYD?

DH is leaving on deployment for 6mos at the end of April, making it not possible for him to be there for the birth of DS. So as a result of that I am going home to my parents house to have DS and be closer to family so im not alone with all this.

My question is: Would you still have pregnancy pictures done? Even if DH isnt there or going to be in them at all? I didnt have them done with my first, well i sorta did but they were done by a friend who was aspiring to be a photographer and they just sucked. so they dont count. So I would like to get them done but i think it would feel wrong with out DH there to be in them.

What do you think?

Im def getting newborn pictures done for sure tho!

Re: WWYD?

  • I suppose it is all in what is important to you.  I have a few belly shots of each of my pregnancies to remember them by and that is good with me.  I don't think personally that if I got maternity shots done, I would display them around the house.  If you feel strongly about it though then get them!

  • if you were planning on getting them done before the deployment came up, i would still do them. and you can still incorporate your husband into them with a pair of his combat boots, or hat, or ribbons, shirt/jacket, or a picture of him, or a picture of a onezie that says "My Daddy is in Iraq/Afghanistan/UAE/Saudi" etc. I say do it and get creative.

Thats a great idea! Thank you!

  • Why not do them in early April when DH is still here? You will be far enough along that you'll be super cute, and then he can join?

  • Agree - get them done while your DH is still here.

yep - i recommend my maternity clients to do their pictures between 32-36 weeks, so you could easily do them while he's still here.  You might really treasure those pictures while he's gone too - you can take one of them in a frame to L/D to make it feel more like he's there with you!

  • When are you planning on going home?  Check with the airlines to see what their regulations are.   If DH can do it before you go home/he leaves, do it then, even if your smaller.  If not, then I suggest doing some with the boots and a set of dog tags.  (picture is clicky to more ideas)

  • Why not get your maternity shots done before DH leaves? That way, he could be in them with you and you'd be able to get them done. I mean, you might not be as big in them as you imagined, but I feel like you might feel better if DH were there to do them with you.

This! I am planning on doing mine in April anyway.

  • I will be going home in FEB or MAR more than likely... i guess we could attempt to do it when we get home before he heads back to Guam? i am pretty big now since this is my second.

thanks ladies for all the advice!
