RF Britax Seats

We have a Britax Roundabout 50 (has a taller back) and it fit nice and cozy in our little Cavalier.  We still have M rearfacing and I didn't worry about the teather anchor when I had it in our smaller car because it didn't have anywhere to go.

Now that we've bought our bigger vehicle (Honda Odyssey), it seems like we have installed it incorrectly.  We have it just as tightly in the minivan and it's level and everything.  Do you use the teacher anchor when RFing or only when FFing?  If you do use it RFing, where do you teather it to?

Re: RF Britax Seats

  • Interesting as we're getting an Odyssey Sunday!!!

Why do you think it's installed incorrectly?

We have our Marathon RF in my Vibe and it isn't tethered.  I don't think tethering is required.  I think it is for FFing if I remember correctly from our car seat class, but I don't know.  She also told us where you can tether it but I forgot that too. Embarrassed

    Sorry I'm no help.

  • Some Britax seats recommend tethering RF but not all of them (and I think Britax is the only one that does tether RF).  To tether RF, just loop the tether around a stationary object that's bolted down (toward the front of the car so behind the RF seat).  Usually the easiest place is around a piece at the bottom of the front seat where it's bolted to the floor.  There is usually also a small extra tether piece that you can loop around something and then attach it to the clip at the end of the long tether.  Does any of that make sense?

Congratulations on your new vehicle!  How exciting.  You are going to love it.  I have looked forward to driving every day this week. =)

I've checked the Britax website and our owner's manual and it all seems to be about rear-facing an infant career but not a toddler in a convertible car seat.

Thanks so much.  I think I remember seeing that extra piece and wondering what it was for.  Hopefully I can figure it out tomorrow.

No problem!  The small tether thingy should have one end with a clip or a metal bar to clip on and at the other end the tether should loop over ant attach to itself.  Just put it around something and feed the rest of the tether through the loop and then attach the clips/metal piece to the clip on the long tether.  It sounds way more complicated than it is, its just hard to explain!
