3rd Trimester

Successful induction (birth story inside)!!

I had my baby this morning and I am completely in love all over again.  When I get a chance, I will post pictures.  In the meantime, here is the birth story:

I went in for my 39 week appointment yesterday and after a talk with my OB, we decided to go ahead and induce the next day.  I came in at about 6:00 AM, and since I did not have time to pre-register, I filled out paperwork for the first couple of hours.  The nurse checked me at 8:35 AM and said I was 2 cm dilated, then she started me on some pitocin.  At about 9:15 AM, the house doctor came in to break my water.  This was by far the worse part of my delivery, and I am convinced that lady had no clue about what she was doing.

Anyway, at 9:40 AM, my doctor came in and checked me (thank God it was her) and said I was almost 4 cm dilated.  She then said it was OK for me to get an epi.  The epi was put in at 11:30 AM and I was still 3-4 centimeters at the time.  By 1 o'clock PM, I was already up to 7-8 centimeters.  I called the nurse 43 minutes later and told her I was feeling a lot of pressure.  When she checked me, she said I was 9 3/4 centimeters and she would call the doctor in to see if she could get me to 10.  The doctor came in 2 minutes later, and when she checked me, the baby was already crowing.  At 1:53 PM, after 3 short pushes, Christopher Leander was born weighing 7 lbs 4 oz and was 19.5 inches long.  He is absolutely perfect and I adore him so much.  He hasn't eaten anything yet, but I keep trying everytime he wakes up.  I only heard him cry when he came out, and he only opens his eyes for me (smile).  His temperment is already the complete opposite of DD's (lol).

Overall, this induction was complete different than my other one.  With DD I was in labor for 30 hours, had to get an episiotomy, and was in severe pain once the epi wore off.  This time it took less than 5.5 hours of labor, I had no tearing, no episiotomy, and I am already able to walk on my own with no pain.

Good luck to everyone that is still pregnant!  Hope you meet your LOs soon.
