Success after IF

I'm glad you saw an immunologist.  That's interesting about the prednisone. Is there any concern about premature labor or other complications with taking that much so far into the second trimester?  I guess that even if there was it would be worth the risk.

So, is his answer to the NK issue prednisone?  What about something like Enbrel?  I don't know what to think about intralipids.  Dr. Coulam is a believer but I've had two IVs now with basically zero reduction in my NK cell activity.  She said that even her toughest patients respond to three so I got my third today.  She also said that some of her patients have elevated NK cell activity their entire pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies so really, who the heck knows.

I was put on dex by my RE but Dr. Coulam wouldn't have put me on it.  When she found out I was taking it she told me to keep up with it longer than my RE had suggested but then told me at 9 weeks that I could taper off of it.  I haven't done that yet because I'm worried about stopping it.

I saw a post by you the other day and didn't respond or at least not fully but I wanted to say keep up the good fight.  I've had two losses and the overwhelming sentiment from my family and many friends has been that we should stop trying which has been hard because I just don't think they understand my overwhelming need to be successful at this at least one more time.  I'm sure the pressure I've gotten doesn't even begin to compare to what you're experiencing so I just want you to know that you have a supporter here.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • they said the medrol wasn't their 1st choice and for the life of me, I can't member why. I asked about dex and they said it was too strong and stayed too long in the system or something (sorry, I'm in a bit of a tizzy right now about something but didn't want to ignore you) and could not take it as long. they liked pred b/c it was dependable, and "safe" as much as it could be. they had NO issues staying on it till viability, or term.

he literally scoffed at lipids. gave IVIG 80% success rate, but totally got the expense issue of it all. he ran some blood for some other suspicions, I'll update more on that later. I'm honestly super confused by the whole appt, and just trying to process it all as we speak. I left feeling ok about it. now I'm hysterical.

more later, ativan and wine to consume ;-)

ps - my 2 cents - get on prednisone stat. I'm of the "it can't hurt" camp.
