Trouble TTC

Vacuoles in embryos??

I just did an embryo retrieval the other day and was told today by the lab that 2 of them fertilized but has vacuoles. 3 other ones are very immature eggs. Have any of you ladies had this experience? I'm a bit sad and upset that this cycle may be canceled because I won't have any to transfer. They will keep monitoring it until Saturday and see how it will look (day 3), but from what the embryologist said, it doesn't look promising.

Re: Vacuoles in embryos??

  • I'm really sorry you are going through this :(

I had my retrieval on Tuesday, and when I got my fert report they told me pretty much the same thing.  Of the 11 mature follicles, 7 fertilized but they all had vacuoles and were a weird shape.

I wish I could provide some insight...but you just have to wait and see how they progress.  The embryologist told me not to get my hopes up, but my RE told me that there's no reason to freak out until we see them on Day 3.  I go in tomorrow for the ET, and as I'm sure you can understand I am really nervous that there won't be anything to transfer.

    Good luck and big (((hugs)))

  • I skimmed through your siggy and just wanted to say I'm sorry about the bad luck with the IVF cycles. I don't know anything about vacuoles but I hope everything works out and you don't have to skip this cycle! Good luck!

  • I'm so sorry.  That is such difficult news.  I do not know anything about vacuoles in embryos.  I do understand the disappointment of getting bad news on fert reports, though.  I hope you get better news on Saturday.  ((HUGS))
