When do the symptoms go away?

A week ago, I found out that our baby had no heartbeat and had probably died about 2 weeks previous. The doctor was ok with me waiting to see if I could miscarry naturally, which hasn't happened yet... but even weirder is that I still have all the symptoms of pregnancy. I have heartburn/nausea and my boobs are as sore as ever. Has anyone else experienced this with a missed miscarriage? It was bad enough feeling sick when I was pregnant, but now it just feels like adding insult to injury.

Your symptoms will most likely not go away until you physically miscarry. Depending on how far along you are, if the placenta had taken over, it is producing your symptoms and is also partly why you have not miscarried yet.

I had a missed miscarriage in November, baby died at 10 wks, I didn't find out until 13 wks. The placenta had already taken over and it has kept me feeling symptoms that whole 3 wks. I did start to miscarry naturally about 2 days after finding out about everything but still opted for a D&C by going to the ER. All my symptoms were gone within a week.

I had a missed m/c at 7w3d, found out at 10w2d. Even though my symptoms had lessened quite a bit, I still had enough to believe that I was still pregnant. I had a D&C last Wednesday, and it only took a few days for the tenderness in my breasts to go away. My appetite is finally back to normal and my bloating is gone for the most part a week later. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. It will get easier and I really did feel relief after my symptoms went away. Hugs.

My story has been just like the pp's...twice.

I completely understand your feelings of anger. Boy was I angry at my body for doing that to me. How dare I have to suffer through pregnancy symptoms when things had ended. Sadly, the symptoms only went away once I started to physically miscarry. For me, I miscarried exactly one week after finding out both times that I had late first trimester losses. Both in the 11th week. I am so sorry you are going through this. It sucks. I hope your body starts to cooperate with you soon so that you can take the next step forward. My symptoms went away almost immediately after the miscarriage. I had a missed miscarriage at 8w1d but had stopped developing 6w4d and opted for misoprostol to induce.

Thanks so much for the replies and kind words. I was kind of afraid that was the answer, but at least now I know what to expect. I've been going back and forth between wanting to do it naturally/wanting to move on and just get the D&C, but with nothing happening and feeling crappy all the time, that's making my decision easier.

I am so sorry for your loss. My symptoms actually went away before I found out about the m/c. I could almost pinpoint the hour that it happened - it was like a switch was flipped off.
