Woke up with it at 6:30 this morning. I haven't had one in almost 5 months which is a new record for me. I did 2 hours of work and that's all I can manage. I'm laying in bed with the curtains drawn and am waiting on the ibuprofen to work a bit. Uck.
Just wanted to have a pity party. I'd appreciate your prayers.
Re: Boo Migraine
Oh man, migraines are the worst! I hope you feel better soon!
Do you ever get sick because of them? My DH does, and he actually always feels better afterward. I don't actually get sick, but mine run the course of aura, nausea, pain, and then the hungover feeling. In any case, they are ZERO fun.
I hope you get some relief!
If you have tylenol or excedrin, I would alternate that with the motring (i.e. take motrin, wait two hours, and then take T/E). With migraines, it helps me more (if I'm not taking a Rx pain reliever) to take a neuro-blocker like Tylenol/Exc rather than just the motrin). And caffeine. Esp if you only have tylenol, drink something caffeinated, that helps me a LOT. Exc has a big boost of caffeine included in it.
GL, and definitely praying you feel better soon!
Thanks ladies. I've rested and drank a whole liter of water and eaten a sandwich. I'm feeling better, but not totally up to par. And I had coffee when I fist got up to have the caffeine. I'd make more, but that would require grinding more beans which I don't think I could handle.
Jocelyn, I don't usually have any nausea with mine or aura, but I get tunnel hearing, sharp stabbing pain and extreme sensitivity to noise and light. This morning I was nauseous, but like I said, that's rare. Wanting to eat a little bit ago was a very good sign for me.
I've had them since I was 14 and have been on a wide variety of meds. Some make me hallucinate (Imitrex), some make me feel hungover (phenergen sp?) and others just don't work (MaxAlt). I used to be on topomax daily for them, but stopped after 9 months. I've been on barbituates and all sorts of other fun drugs. Sleep, water and 4 ibuprofen are really the best things for me.
migraines suck!! i find that a little bit of vick's on my sinuses and a cold wash cloth over my forehead/eyes and an icepack at the base of my skull helps (in conjunction with meds, of course).
jocelyn -- i hate that hungover feeling! that often lasts a couple of days after my migraine is "gone". and the auras are horrid! i'm in the same boat as your H, if i get sick i generally feel better afterward
hope you feel better, E
Glad you're on the mend. Ditto the icepack advice! I would always feel so sore at the back of my neck after.
Ahhhh...love me some MaxAlt. Wish it worked for you!
