Traveling/moving after baby is born

in 3rd Trimester

DH might be starting a new job 3 hours away, 10 days after my due date. Yeah bad timing but such is life.

Anyway.... saying the baby is born on time w/no complications etc, would it be completely ridiculous for me & baby to travel 3 hours, 8 days after birth??? I'm thinking ridiculous idea but what do i know.

    that's a tough one...    I  have a hard time imagining life after baby.. lol so it's hard to say..   at this point I would be scared to go to the store alone.. I know it's insane....

    Now would you be traveling just to visit your Dh or actually moving?

    I don't think that's too bad....assuming no complications, etc.... ?You gotta do what you gotta do! ?Just be sure to take care of BOTH of you first :)

    We would be moving in with ILs until house sells or we get renters. I wouldn't be traveling alone--DH would drive. FIL/BIL would move up any important stuff in the truck/suv.

    My delivery (scheduled c/s) and recovery were a breeze, but I would NOT have been up for a move when DS was 8 days old.  I really didn't even want to leave the house at that point.  If your delivery is rougher for any reason, I don't see how you'd be up to that.  JMO.

    I was still in alot of pain 8 days after my vaginal birth with DD. I mean really sore. I also go sick after I had her. I couldn't imagine having to move at that point.....but you have to do what you have to do.

    it would be pretty intense, that's for damn sure. i had an emergency c-section, so i would not have been up for it,  but as pps have said you do what you have to do. isn't there some other way it could be done (moving earlier or postponing for a bit?). Just a thought...

    As long as you and baby are in good health and there is no reason not to travel, I think you'd be fine.  If you have an epesiotomy, you'll need to have a pillow or something to sit on and be prepared to stop frequently for diapers and feeding if needed.  But, the baby will (hopefully) be asleep the whole time anyway.  Obviously, it's not ideal, but if you have to do it, I would say it's completely do-able.
