This is so disappointing to me. I had a bout of anxiety that started
when DD1 was about 3 months old, but I didn't get treatment until about 6
months later. The family doc put me on Zoloft. Family doc did not diagnose it as PPD/PPA though, just regular old depression.
When we TTC'd for DD2, I had stopped the Zoloft per my family doc's recommendation. Now the anxiety is back. It came back the day after Christmas. I was hoping it was just because the holiday was over, but it hasn't really gone away yet. I'll have a good day that I feel fine for most of the day, but then there's other days where I feel anxious all day. I remember the relief I felt when I took Zoloft before and I'm almost craving that feeling of relief.
My concern is that I'm BFing. OB/Gyn told me at my last appt that he could prescribe me some Zoloft, but I would have to give up BFing. I held off because of that, but I now feel like I need something to help me feel better. I don't want to give up BFing though. Do you think that if my family doc told me to stop the Zoloft before TTCing that he would also tell me to stop BFing before taking Zoloft? BFing is really important to me, but so is my mental well being.
Oh, and this time the anxiety is accompanied by a little depression too. I hate feeling this way.
Re: Anxiety is back
Wow! You doctor is way off. Zoloft is the safest to take while BFing and can be taken during pregnancy if needed! Thats why OB's always recommend it first. and yes Ob's usually dont know nearly as much about this as family docs. Mine had to look it up! Try calling this number (will be long distance charge). They specialize in mommies and meds and someone will answer the phone and give you the correct info. All they do all day is research this all.....

wish id called sooner. I stopped BFing then found this number. When I called they said I had certain time restrictions with BFing but could have kept doing it. Tried to relactate and got an ounce a day but LO never latched again =(
