Today my husband and I went in to our U/S thinking we were 6 weeks pregnant but we're only 5 weeks. This was a little bit of a bummer, but I need to remember either way it is a gift of life that we have been blessed with
I am considered a high risk pregnancy due to a factor 5 clotting disorder; so today I also started my first round of Heparin shots. I will have to take them for the next 9 months twice a day.
They hurt a little but but to be honest I could care less because my husband and I are so excited to see this beautiful baby! Any of you ladies out there taking heparin? If so please share your experiences during your pregnancy.
Next week we get to see baby again and hear the heart beat! Congrats to all mommies to be out there and stay strong...

I've been on Lovenox for MTHFR since we triggered. It gets easier as you get use to doing them - I find icing the spot before and after helps a lot with the sting and with bruising.
As your belly gets bigger and harder, it can be more difficult to get the needle in, but like you said it's all worth it in the end.
Good luck to you.
I've been on them since starting Clomid for Protein S (but only once a day).
I actually use them in my leg instead (in the fat on the upper thigh). They do sting but I find I'm getting better at it over time (its been 6 weeks of shots now). The two things that help are putting some force behind the needle when I put it in (if i do it slowly it hurts more) and then going slowly and smoothly on injecting the liquid. I usually have a magazine or newspaper article I'm reading for a few seconds during the injection part to take my mind off it
I agree with you Brit it is so wonderful to have support on this subject. I have the factor 5 mutated gene and I started my shots yesterday. The shot stings and to be honest I cry jussst a little bit because of the sting and because it brings me back to when I had Pulmonary Embolisms and DVT's. I dont want to sound like a broken record but it is soooo worth it.
The best part about this whole shot thing is how supportive my husband is. He administers the shots every morning at 8AM even though he doesnt work until 11. Then again at 10:30 PM that night.
He is so compassionane about it. He told me this morning "I wish I could take the pain away for you." I am so blessed to have him in my life, and I love thinking of the fact that I have our baby in my tummy
