Vaccination: Bad Reaction?

I have an appt at 1pm but i just want ed to ask around

DD had her MMR and Chicken Pox vaccination last Tuesday. On Saturday she developed a rash near and around her diaper area. No fever.  She has never had diaper rash, ever.   Yesterday she didn't eat all of her lunch and last night she refused dinner. No fever. She went down at 730 as normal but then every 45 minutes she would wake up screaming. this am I  told her care giver to give her Tylenol if she seems cranky, which she did. None of this began until after vaccines. Am I crazy for thinking it that vaccines? I'm super worried.  TIA

Re: Vaccination: Bad Reaction?

  • I would definitely ask about it,  but thats a pretty long time between the vacc. and the symptoms to be a reaction isnt it?

  • One of my girls had a reaction to the MMR vaccine.  She had a fever at 9 days post-vax, and red dots appeared on her chest 2 days after the fever.  The dots lasted three days.  She was cranky but did not have a change in appetite or sleep.  She also didn't really have any of the dots in her diaper area.

What you are describing doesn't sound like the typical reaction, but it's good that you are getting it checked out just in case.

With the MMR vaccine, reactions typically occur 7-10 days post-shot.

  • symptoms from the MMRV can show anywhere from 7-10 days post vaccination.

Give your pedi a call, it may give you piece of mind.

  • THANKS!

I'm really glad I went in.   She did indeed have a fever. It was 103 and Dr. immediately checked for strep and flu. Both test came back negative.

She does have a yest infection, trush (SP?) and possible sore throat but there is no explanation for the severe cranky baby.  I don't have the hear to take her out of her car seat right now. She is snoring! She needs the sleep.
