So, it seems that Libby has dropped another nap and just wants to nap once a day. Usually about 10:30-12:30 or 11-1...from what I've read online this is fairly normal and at many daycares they only allow toddlers to nap once a day (versus two a day in the younger rooms). For those of you with 12+ month olds, how many times a day does your LO nap and for how long? I am guessing we're down to one now and perhaps, a little earlier bedtime. She's been ready to go down closer to 7 pm. lately.
Re: Napping at 12 months old
Weekday -- Alexa wakes up at 6:30, then naps 7-8am on the way to daycare. At daycare, she naps once from 12-2pm. She then naps on the drive home as well, from 5:30-6:30pm. So technically she is down to 1 nap a day, but she usually sleeps in the car as well, so... Bed by 8pm.
Weekends -- Alexa wakes up between 6:30-7:30am, then takes her morning nap at 10:30/11 for about 1:30. She also has an afternoon nap from 4-5 p.m. This is assuming no drivetime napping. Bed by 8pm.
HTH! It usually varies a bit but most babies do keep 2 naps until 15-18 months. That said, most toddler classes do offer just 1 nap a day, as is the case at Alexa's daycare. G/L!

yeah i think average is 15-18 mos to drop that nap
that said, it's an avg and every baby is different so just follow L's lead. we just transitioned to one nap per day this week, on monday, and she did great, did not get cranky/tired at all with a 1pm or 2pm nap but today the sitter said she was about to fall asleep sitting up so she put her down at 10:45am.... so I am not sure if it's the transition or if each day will be different but for now we're going to play it by ear and let her decide
i think it's fairly normal for them to drop the morning nap and take one long afternoon nap. that said, on mon/tues this week, Miss A only took a 2 hr nap in the afternoon and she usu. takes 1.5-2 hrs in the AM and 2 hrs again in the PM .....so maybe today was just her sleep deficit catching up w/her? i don't know. i've heard they can nap 3-4 hrs in the PM though when you drop that AM nap.
at 12 months we were still at 2 naps/day, one at 9am and the other around 2-3pm.....it was around 13 months that she transitioned to a nap around 10:30am and then again around 3-4pm....she has always been ready for a nap 3 hrs after waking up and that is the "schedule" that we followed up until this past week b/c she started laying in her crib for an hour before falling asleep each time (despite showing sleepy cues) so i thought i'd see how she would do w/just 1 nap/day. we'll see how the next few days go, if we keep w/the single nap or go back to double naps....

Around Libby's age Bella was still napping twice a day, once around 9 or 9:30 for about 30-45 mins and again around 1230 for about 1-2 hours (usually about 1 1/2 hours for the afternoon nap) she didn't transition to just one nap for awhile, I'd say 15-16 months. We noticied her morning naps getting shorter and shorter but when we tried to go without it she was REALLY crabby so we just kept it up for awhile.
At her daycare they only do one nap after 1 yr old unless the parent asks them to do something different, we did! We asked to keep up her 2 naps until we said otherwise, it wasn't an issue at all!
I've heard this too, but LB will usually take his nap 11-1 or around there, and then maybe take a late afternoon nap, but it's hit or miss these days. He's been doing this since he was about 12 months old. I keep wondering if he will stay awake longer and take an afternoon nap (prob will just in time for us to ahve to be at a 2pm wedding in April!)
