Well...today is the first day I've been unemployed since I was 16 years old! DH and I make our big move in 10 days. Between now and then I'll be watching the movers pack (ahh..), driving to and from Virginia, and saying lots of goodbyes to my dear friends and family. It's going to be a very busy and tiring time, but I'm looking forward to our new adventure as our family grows in the Lonestar State! And I'm so excited to have the opportunity be a stay-at-home mommy to this sweet baby when she arrives in May. I just hope time doesn't totally drag between now and then!
Re: Officially Unemployed
DH got a new job! He's been in Virginia training for it since late August, so we're excited to finally be back together...but nervous (especially me!) for the big move 1,000 miles away from home.
We'll be in Houston!! Any other Houston (or somewhere close) May Mamas??
I'm in Houston! Welcome to our city! Let me know if you have any questions, its a great place to live-very diverse and not at all what people imagine when they hear "Texas"
Where in the city are you planning to live?

Congrats!
I wish i could concentrate on being a full time mommy and quit my job too LOL
Oh wow! Thanks! We're very excited but have never EVER been to the city, so it should be interesting. We're renting a place close to DH's office for the first few months. Since we don't know the city at all, we thought it would be good to go for location in respect to his office while I'm expecting (so he'll be kind of close in case I need him), then we'll look to buy once we learn the suburbs. We'll be near Jersey Village, just off 290 and the Beltway. Where are you? And who is your OB? I have an appt with Dr. Jacob at NW Women's Center and will deliver at Methodist Willowbrook. It's really scary moving to a whole new place where we don't know anyone!
We live in a neighborhood near Reliant Stadium, not the suburbs but not the city. Its about 20 minutes or so from where you are going to be (which is normal in Houston-its a very spread out city). I am seeing the midwives at the Women's Specialists of Houston and will deliver at St. Luke's but I've heard great things about Methodist too!
Moving is scary-but Houston is a good place! Let me know when you get here...we can get together or something
The Houston board is usually pretty helpful and feel free to send me a PM with other questions.
