Trying to Get Pregnant

Back from RE Appt

DH and I are back from the RE.  They had a couples clinic, so first we talked to DH's urologist and then we saw the RE.  I feel better that we are moving forward with blood work for me & medication for DH to hopefully increase his sperm count.  He has to go back in a month to have another SA and then another 3 months of meds and then another SA to determine if we can do IUI or if we have to do IVF.

The RE thinks it is a possibility I have PCOS.  He thinks the BCP I was on for the last 9 years have masked the symptoms.  I'm not sure about that because my periods were regular prior to BCP and in the year I've stopped they've become irregular.  The blood work will tell him more and possibly an HSG if covered by insurance.  If the HSG isn't covered we'll have to talk more with the RE to see if it is something he would recommend based on the blood work results.

Anyway, we could use any extra prayers you ladies may have.  We need DH's count to increase so we can do IUI instead of jumping to IVF.
Thanks and sorry if this is too long!

  • I just wanted to let you know that PCOS isn't 100% diagnosed by b/w. I have PCOS (confirmed by transvaginal u/s), but my b/w isn't typical of a PCOS patient.

Many T&Ps are coming your way for higher counts and a successful IUI Smile

He had talked about some ultrasounds, but since insurance only covers so much, he wants to see what the results come back.  He was saying it's probably a small chance, but put it out there anyway regarding PCOS.

  • GL and I hope everything works out for you.  If you don't mind me asking was it just your husbands count that was the majority of the problem? My DH had a low count but also his morphology was at 0 and that is part of the reason our RE recommended IVF right away rather than starting with IUI's.
  • Hoping that they go up and you don't have to resort to IVF just yet.

Definitly think of you and DH, good luck for the next few weeks.

They didn't talk about the morphology, but when the doctor calle me with his results, it was 50 or 60%.  The majority of them are swimming fine.  He needs to have a count of 5 million or above for us to qualify for their IUI and right now he only has a count of 2 million.

  • Hi!

So sorry you're going through all this.

My husband also has low all 3 and we're starting IVF in Feb.

What meds did they put him on? Did they say why his count was low?

I hope they help and you get to IUI!
