Cloth Diapering

"she's going to be deformed"

Can anyone point me to a study that shows cloth diapering children do NOT grow up with bowed legs and motor difficulties? A family member was telling me my baby can't move her legs freely (she can when her bulky overnight diaper is off!) and is going to end up with a crooked spine from being arched up on her back in her fluffy butt all night.

  • We all wore cloth diapers and we can walk fine can't we?  I would just say something like that.  But, I'm snarky like that. Big Smile

  • You could point out that people used cloth diapers for thousands (hundreds? anyone know what the Egyptians used?) of years before disposables were invented and they all developed fine.
  • People have been CDing waaaay longer than sposies have been around.

  • This is the most ridiculous thing that I have seen all day. I am pretty sure that they would have recalled/banned by now if loads of children are being deformed by CDs.

  • People are crazy.

Our friends told us that DD was going to have crooked legs because she was rear-facing until around 2.5 years of age.

  • LOL. I did say that disposables weren't even invented until fifty years ago so people had to have been putting their babies in SOMETHING -- and his response was that it wasn't giant microfiber 12 hour diapers.

This!  Every single human being born between the invention of cloth and Gen X was CD'd... And while they might nit have had MF I can guarantee a WAD of cloth friom 100 years ago wasn't LESS bulky!

  • Where did he get this information? Is he able to verify his sources from current scientific medical journals.... what a load of crap.

I went through google scholar- searching for any scholarly articles and journals that indicate any relationship between a spinal defect as a result of cloth diapering...and there is nothing.

Tell him he is a moron and to keep his moronic statements to himself!
