And is that amount included in the regular tip (typically 15 percent around here) for the hair stylist or in addition to that? I never know what to do when a separate person washes my hair and I need to tip two separate people.
I guess it depends on how much the haircut was, too. I got a $73 haircut yesterday and that's why I'm wondering. Tip adds up though I don't want to shortchange anybody either!
Re: NTR: How much do you tip the person who washes your hair when you get a haircut?
I never get my hair washed at the salon, since I'm going to go home and wash it to get the bits of hair off anyway. Not to mention salon shampoo always makes me itch (and my makeup runs and my shirt gets wet).

I can't go back to yesterday - because I was a different person then. ~ Alice
I don't tip the hair washer.
A $70+ haircut?!?!
I tip 20% on the total cost of my service. I give it to the receptionist who puts it in the envelope of my stylist. It's up to her to tip out.
$73 for JUST a haircut?
same here
I do $5, more if the assistant blow dries or otherwise helps. I can't say i'm ever confident that that is the right amount though.
When I get my color done, there's always one assistant who washes and rinses and does glaze and usually a different person who blow dries. I tip $10 and $10 there, but my color guy owns the salon so I don't have a tip going to him.
