Share your registry must-haves!!!

I was checking out several of the earlier posts about registries, and saw that lots of you said you had a friend/sister/coworker give you a list of "must have" items or things that they wished they'd registered for but didn't.  Or maybe you already have your first child and can speak from personal experience...  It seems like there are a lot of us that could benefit from seeing someone's must have list.  Please share!!

  • A bottle/wipes warmer! I'll be breastfeeding, but for days we're traveling, works wonders in the car and bedroom for those tired nights.  I also have a small fridge/freezer in my room so I'll be nice and lazy for a while.

    Swing (a heaven sent)

  • I think a good must have is Huggies wash clothes. They are amazing, soft wash clothes that already have the soap in them so you don't have to try to fumble around while trying to give your slippery LO a bath. They also smell great and are tear free and i believe hypo-allegenic (would have to double check). I love them but you only use it for one bath so I say STOCK up!

  • I don't have a list of my must haves yet, but here are a couple lists that have been passed on to me.

This one was emailed to me:

    1.  Miracle Blanket (you'll use this up through 4 months old) - best swaddling blanket EVER
    2.  Video monitor (I still use in 2.5 yo and 1 yo's rooms) - I find it really helpful to be able to not only hear, to also see what's going on during nap time
    3.  IF you breast feed.....love the breastfriend for the first 2 months and love the boppy after that....also, the purple tube of lansinoah is a MUST for your nipples...also, a great, double, automatic breast pump is a must (you will want the freedom to get out, if you choose to breast feed so get a good pump).
    4.  Bouncy seat - you want something for them to be able to look at, bat at, etc.  They use this from 4 weeks - 4 months or so and we loved this one:

    5.  Swing - I hardly used the swing at all, but with both girls, it was a HUGE help during napping training (more on that another time).  Try to borrow one for a few months.
    6.  Pack n Play - we still use one for 2.5 yo and put her down for naps and for bed at friend's houses....I got a cheap one and love it
    7.  A great rocker for the nursery.  I had a dutailier and I loved it...worth every penny.
    8. I am obsessed with the peanut shell sling...I could not have done without it.
    9. Sound machine and curtains lined with blackout lining for the nursery
    10.  2 books - Babywise & Healthy Sleep Habit, Happy Baby.  The contradict each other at times, and I did not agree with either completely, but for me, they each brought a HUGE piece of the newborn puzzle that made my life so much easier and helped both my girls to be sleeping 12 hours at night, without feedings, by the time they were 7 & 8 weeks old.

Edit: Here's the intro to the above list- These are in no particular order...just the order they popped into my head.  Also, I know you will, but do borrow everything you can....most of these things they use for 3 or 4 months.  And they are invaluable for those months, but then you're done.  I borrowed infant car seats for both girls and registered for big girl car seats

  • 1) Blackout Curtains are a must for when baby is a little older and you want them to sleep in. Babies 0-4 months can pretty much sleep through anything, even vacuuming, but eventually as they get older they WILL wake up literally when the sun comes up and creeps into their room!

    2) Bouncy Seat so you have a place to put baby where he/she is slightly upright and can look around and play with attached toys. Also the vibrating function is very calming and used to quiet DS down right away.

    3) A Swing is also a GREAT thing to have to put baby in to get them to sleep if they are being particularly difficult to put down. We didn't use it that much but was great at calming DS down and  getting him to sleep when he was uber fussy and nothing else worked.

    4) A Jumparoo  is a great place to put baby in and have them expend energy, be safe, explore their surrounding by being upright and basically play. You need as many places to put baby in so that they can entertain themselves sometimes like when you have to cook, go to the bathroom and the jumparro keeps them both occupied and safe.

     5) Boppy pillow is a must if you're going to breastfeed. Positioning baby is so awkward without it because then you'd be putting so much strain on your arms to have to hold them up the whole time they're breastfeeding (which can sometimes last 40 minutes), this way they are elevated high enough to reach and you spare your arm muscles!
