Often, when you're on bed-rest, you often think about all the things you miss. To make light of the situation, what are some things you DO NOT miss while resting until baby comes?

If you have any updates, upcoming appointments, or anything else to say, let us know!

Being high-risk, especially when bedrest is involved can be a daunting experience. Here's to a boring remainder of our pregnancies time, especially for those moms who have been admitted to hospital bedrest, including:

AGHR31 (Gina): admitted 11/29 for a shortened cervix and preterm contractions

gigi1979 (Bridget): admitted on 12/21 for PTL

Soon2BMrsBoylon: admitted 12/23 for severe PIH

Family hopes (Sam): admitted on 01/03 for IC w/ PTL

youngnewlywed: admitted 01/04 due to water breaking at 26 weeks

jlwolfe73 (Jennifer): admitted on 01/04 for PROM

klpalmer922: admitted 1/15 due to massive bleeding due to an unknown reason at this point

  • Question of the Day: Often, when you're on bed-rest, you often think about all the things you miss. To make light of the situation, what are some things you DO NOT miss while resting until baby comes?

Working! I totally do not miss it. I'm a nurse and worked 3am-3pm 3 days a week. Not missing the 1:30am alarm clock, going to bed at 7:30 pm, and being on my feet for 13+ hours a day.

No updates! Have my weekly appointment tomorrow...wish us luck!

  • Question of the Day: I am happy that I am missing everyone at work watching me get huge.  I work with some pretty obnoxious people and I am secretly happy that they won't be able to make obnoxious comments about my size.  If you have any updates, upcoming appointments, or anything else to say, let us know!Tomorrow is my weekly appointment, this week with my regular OB.  I am going have another fFN and am hoping for another negative.  I'm also wonder what position this baby is in!  Yesterday it felt like two cartoon squirrels were chasing each other around in a circle in my uterus.  Who knows where he is today! Hope everyone else is feeling good and positive today.  I've been on bed rest for 7 weeks now and I must admit I'm getting some cabin fever.  There's a chance they could lift my restrictions at 32 or 34 weeks, so I am counting the days until then!

  • MegZRN: Looking forward to hearing how your appt. pans out tomorrow.

Marcy248: Seven weeks? Way to go! For that, I do hope they lift your restrictions in another few weeks.

Question of the Day: Often, when you're on bed-rest, you often think about all the things you miss. To make light of the situation, what are some things you DO NOT miss while resting until baby comes?

Well, here's one. I don't miss the weekly dinners with my in-laws. Granted my in-laws help out quite a bit BUT being around them can be quite awkward especially when they feel you should be doing things the way they would

Even though I would love to be able to get out and about, I also do not miss having to throw on layers upon layers of clothes in the height of winter. I am so looking forward to spring and summer and am thankful not to do bed-rest during that time too!

This is  a hrad one since I miss everything! lol but I guess...I don't miss having to wake up at 6 before work and prepare breakfast, lunches and clothes for LO for daycare. I don't miss constant housework and laundry! I also don't miss driving in the horrible winter weather.

    Updates:

I did my weekly ultrasound today, policy for hospital bedrest. And this LO is finally cooperating! Now no longer breech, baby is head down! Im so happy about that. Also weighing in at 2 lb 10 oz at 28 weeks 2 days. But, the fluid is less than last week, still in normal range but low. So Im waiting to see what the doctor has to say today!

Good luck to everyone, and Congrats to all the new mamas:)

  • QOTD: I don't miss having to leave my daughter every day to go to work. I also don't miss my office or my job. I didn't hate it before, I just don't wish to be there.
  • Often, when you're on bed-rest, you often think about all the things you miss. To make light of the situation, what are some things you DO NOT miss while resting until baby comes? I do not miss my MIL! While her heart is USUALLY in the right place, some of her comments are hurtful and drive me crazy.

If you have any updates, upcoming appointments, or anything else to say, let us know!
Just got a call that my fFN test was negative which is great. I just started having BH and that caused me to get nervous. I'm just trying to learn my GD diet and getting excited about my shower on Sunday! Even though I am only allowed to attend if I'm seated the entire time.

  • Big congrats to Brigid!!!  Your daughter is beautiful!!!

QOTD:  I don't miss driving in crappy winter weather.

Updates:  Nothing much on the medical front.  A bit worried about my DH, I know the strain of having me gone and trying to split his time between work, taking care of our puppy, and visiting me is getting to him.  He is a strong and wonderful man but I know he constantly feels guilty about not be able to visit more.  The hospital is about 45-50 minutes from our house.  He works retail so he has a constantly shifting schedule.   I wish I knew what I could do for him.

It's too bad there isn't some kind of support group for husbands of hospital bedrest mamas.  My husband and I live near Franklin, MI, but when I was in the hospital I was at Henry Ford Detroit.  We also have a dog and I felt bad that after a full day at work, he would have to go home, then drive all the way downtown.  Just hang in there...in a few months we'll all have something wonderful to show for this little bit of sacrifice.

  • QOTD:  To be honest, there isn't really much I miss.  :-(  Since this is my second time on BR with no going bk to work inbetween and getting pg so soon again, I haven't had time to fall back into a normal routine...

Wait...I don't miss changing Livy's dirty diapers!!  Pew!

Updates:  Today was my OB appt and my ultrasound.  I'm 10wks along and due Aug 16th!  My cervix looked GREAT (I'm hr for early dialation) and the baby was doing good.  My doc put my on magnesium, but took me off strict bedrest, as long as I'm not faint...which is most of the time.  I'm on mod br now, but still have to spend most of the day laying around.  It's just so good to know that she feels like I'm ok enough to take me off strict, kwim?  I also LOVED this new doc.  She was really on top of everything, already has all my extra ultrasounds scheduled to keep an eye on this LO's growth.  I love her.  :-)

I honestly think it's just as hard on most of the husbands as us.  They carry so much of the load, kwim?  And try to be strong and never let themselves crack on top of it.  I'm feeling really guilty right now about my DH.  Him having to take over AGAIN after really no break.  Sigh.  And he has mono, so despite that he's still doing everything.  What can he do, kwim?  Someone NEEDS to take care of our DD and he's the best off.  I know he feels like crap and is soooo tired too.

Hugs Mama's.   Remember to tell your DH's that you love and appreciate them.  Just hearing the words means so much to them.  Let them know that they have been so wonderful and all that good stuff.  And hang in there.  I promise...when you look at your baby for the first time together, NONE of this will matter.  Not at all.

  • Often, when you're on bed-rest, you often think about all the things you miss. To make light of the situation, what are some things you DO NOT miss while resting until baby comes?

I don't miss the stressful environment of my office.  We are in a state of transition and having some fairly difficult conversations.  The fact that I can have them remotely over the phone or that the conversation comes to my couch has made all the difference in my stress level.  Granted, I'm now monitoring my BP twice a day, so perhaps I'm lying to myself.  :)

No updates:  have a follow-up appt tomorrow AM concerning my BP.

  • QOTD: I miss going out and doing things...cooking...just being able to do what I want, when I want. I know once the baby comes I'll be like...let's talk about that bed rest, ;).

Updates: Had weekly fetal assessment test today...good timing I had some contractions this morning and the nurse said it was probably due to my fluid dropping. It's still in normal range but it's at the low end, last week it was doing great right in the middle...hopefully next week it will be back up there. So she told me rest and drink a lot...I was like, OB has me on bed rest and all I do is drink and pee...so we'll see, at least it's still in the OK range!! :) And my BP was AWESOME!!!! 126/76!! WOOO!!!!!!!!! :)
