Baby Monitor Recommendations Please

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to recommend their baby monitor.  THere are so many to choose from I really have no idea what we will really need. Should we spend the money on a camera or just do the sound, have walkie-talkie capabilities?? I am really clueless...TIA!!!

  • I'm interested in seeing the feedback here!  I kind of wanted a video monitor, but just saw a recall on the Summer Slim and Secure Video Monitor (which gets the best reviews in Baby Bargains).  It has something to do with the rechargeable batteries overheating.

Looking forward to hearing about the monitors everyone likes!

  • The 3 main factors are:

Voice vs. Video:  how important is it for you to see what's going on

Analog vs. Digital: how many electronics do you have in your house? These cause major interference. If lots, you'll want to go with a Digital Monitor.

and How much do you want to spend?

The best in each class is here:

  • I think one of the most important features is choosing a digital monitor. This will lead to less interference from other monitors and other electronics in your house or your neighbors' houses.

We have the Summer Slim & Secure. I really like it. I honestly think it's worth it to have a video camera instead of just audio. I think if I only had an audio monitor I would go into DS's room at the wrong times. Sometimes he's very quiet and I would assume he was sleeping and then wonder why he's so tired after a long nap, but being able to watch him shows me whether or not he's actually sleeping. On the flip side (especially when sleep training) I might want to go into the room to comfort him when he's fussy or crying not knowing that he was just about to pass out when I open the door and upset him.
