Parenting after 35

Does your baby like water?

I know we haven't given it much of a chance yet, but we are trying to get Miller to drink water from a sippy.  He understands how to work the sippy, but he wrinkles up his face when the water comes out.  I think I may put some water in a bottle and see if I get the same reaction.

Re: Does your baby like water?

  • We put the water in one kind of sippy, the milk in another.  It seems to work.  The water sippy makes a loud, funny noise when she stops drinking, she loves it.

This, except I give him 4/5 water and 1/5 apple juice.

  • B doesn't love it, but she'll drink it. She mostly likes to pour it out of her sippy cup and play with it.

We do this and she loves it.  A couple of times we've been out and I refill her cup w/ straight water and immediately she makes a face to let me know she's not enjoying it as much.

Sabrina will try and ends up liking everything. It's crazy. Yesterday she drank 8 ounces of water in two hours.

  • Some sippies make the water taste like the plastic spout. You might want to take a taste yourself to check. My DS will sip water okay but he doesn't rePly drink much of it.
  • S loves it!  She gets formula in a bottle and water in the sippy.  We've tried to reverse them and she won't drink them the other way.  It is definitely worth a shot to see if Miller will drink it the other way.
  • Mikey loves water. We started giving him a little in a sippy around 9-10 months just to get him used to it and he's been awesome with it. Milk from a sippy... that's taken some more work.
  • Ooh!  The comment about the plastic taste reminds me...

When I biked a lot I used to make mint herbal tea and pour it in my water bottles and camelback to help wash away the plastic taste.  You could try doing that (not giving him the tisane, just pouring it out) so the water wouldn't taste so plasticky.

  • Sienna loves water. At first she didn't seem to like it. Then I waited til she was really thirsty/hungry before I introduced it agai. She guzzled it. Ever since she likes it.

  • Ada will drink it readily from her sippy cup but she much prefers to drink from my water bottle. We can't have glasses of water in our house as the cats like to think that new water source is all for them! Meow!
