Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 9 months old in 2 days!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Nothing specific, just...they're getting so big! We put them in their 9-month size footy PJs last night and they're getting too small (they seem to run 2-3 months ahead in clothing sizes). *sniff* My little boys are growing up!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We have one with a speech therapist tomorrow to check on their tongue ties. I'm getting a little concerned about them. They seem to be eating chunky finger foods without any issues, but neither of them has ever said "dada" - and I do mean EVER. They say mama, baba, gaga, etc., but not dadadada. It's one of the easiest sounds to make, but you have to lift the tip of your tongue and their ties are inhibiting that. If the therapist thinks it's an issue, she'll refer us to a hospital surgeon to get them snipped.

If she doesn't, Ben and I have decided to get it done anyway with a private surgeon. I know that's probably HUGELY flame-able, but it's a tiny procedure (local anesthetic spray and a quick snip with operating scissors followed by a few hours of discomfort) and I'd rather just get it done now since from what I've read it's far better to do it earlier on - the blood vessels aren't as big, and the child doesn't have to re-learn how to use their tongue as much. It's not like amputating a foot or something - at best it will keep them from having to go through years of speech therapy, and at worst it won't be truly necessary but will allow them to lick an ice cream cone properly. Chalk up "unnecessary surgery" on my list of Things I Never Thought I'd Do!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Sick babies. Sad Daycare called us yesterday because Dash was running a fever and had diarrhea. Will doesn't seem to have the fever but has watery poos as well. They haven't eaten anything unusual and when they're cutting teeth they tend to get constipated, so I think they probably just picked up a bug.

    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items. Ooooh let's see. Sophie the Giraffe. Boikido wooden blocks. Any kind of board book (although The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Where Is The Green Sheep? are their favorites). The Leapfrog learning table. Busy balls.

    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time? Honestly? Yes. Twins are a little different - they're usually a bit behind, especially as far as major motor development go. So when I read posts about someone's LO crawling at 6 months, or whose 8 month old is walking, or whatever else, and I look over at my nearly-9-month-old dudes who have juuuuuuuust started army crawling, it does make you secretly worry (even thought it's stupid since the actual age for crawling is anywhere between 6-10 months, so they're still well within the normal range and have plenty of time).

It's embarrassing to admit, but it's true - and from what I've read on the Multiples board, also a very normal emotion for a MoM.

It doesn't help that mothers in general are pretty competitive about meeting milestones ("Little Johnny walked at 5 months!" "Yeah? Well my Susie was cooking 4 course meals for us by 8 months!").

*shrug* I usually just tell myself that they're not going to go to college still rolling around on the ground lol!

    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work? I started the day they were born and stopped 7 weeks later. Bottle feeding was fairly early on (a few days old) since I had such bad supply issues.

    (8) We're almost out of questions (again!). I'll probably start recycling some since it's been a while and we have several new moms/moms-to-be. What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? Do you take regular photos of your LO (in the sense of an actual schedule - like every Sunday, or the first of the month, etc.)? If your LO eats solids, what are their favorite foods (any recipes to share?)?

  • Loading the player...
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  4.5 months

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Adair has officially found her feet.  If she will stay on her back (she definitely prefers tummy - which still blows my mind since tummy time was equivalent to water boarding for so long), but if she is on her back, she is definitely in "happy baby" pose holding onto her feet with everything she's got!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  next friday 5 month checkup/4 month shots (we are little behind on shots!)

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  nothing too much out of the ordinary...lacking sleep, wishing I didn't have to work, but nothing new!  Stick out tongue

    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items.  1. Adair's fav is definitely Sophie the Giraffe 2. board books especially Goodnight Moon 3.  jumperoo 4. rainforest mobile (since she has only been in her crib for maybe 2 weeks, the mobile is still pretty new to her so she likes to look at it...but again, only when I can keep her on her back!) 5. her bathtub - after we finish bathing her, I will sit her up on the deeper end of her tub and she loves to hit the water and splash around a bit

    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?  not yet.  I am sure it will come though.  I think it is pretty normal to worry a little

    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work?  I started pumping after about 2 or 3 weeks but only on the off chance that LO had gone longer without a meal and I thought my girls were going to explode!  In the beginning, I only nursed on one side so if she slept a few hours the breast I hadn't nursed on would be really engorged.  Once I switched to nursing on both sides, I would only pump after nursing her 1st thing in the morning just to make sure both were empty.  When I started pumping after nursing, I was really able to start building up my freezer stash (maybe about 1.5 months before going back to work)

    (8) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
anyone give their LO probiotics?  Is it possible to give probiotics before giving solids?  BF mamas who pump at work:  how often do you pump?

  • 1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  29w2d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Feeling heavy and totally exhausted these days.  I also started getting a sore throat this morning, I really hope I'm not getting sick Sad

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  I had my last appointment yesterday and my normal OB just came back from maternity leave so I was relieved to finally start seeing her again.  Just my normal 2 week check ups are happening and she did say after my cervical length u/s next week I can stop since they are all coming back normal.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  Traveling!!!  I went to AZ for my first baby shower and let me tell you, that will be the last time I travel pregnant ever again ;)  It was so exhausting getting through the airport.  It's kinda funny really to think I'm that exhausted for something that's normally not even really a big deal. Stick out tongue

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 11 months old today!  Countdown to 1 is on!
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Jack is sooo verbal lately.  He constantly sings to himself and is always trying to mimic our words.  I love it.
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nope.
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? naps - J apparently has decided he doesn't want to nap at school anymore.
    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items. hmmm, the broom, boxes, plastic bottles, measuring cups, the remote control, cell phones, hahaha kidding (a little).  He loves his large stuffed dog, books, stacking cups, and blocks.  He plays with the large things like his learning home, basketball hoop, etc. but I really think he could take it or leave it - he much prefers items that he sees us using.
    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time? it's funny, I use to sometimes worry that he didn't "babble" as an infant.  But now he is never quiet!(7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work? Pumped at about 1mo pp.  Introduced a bottle at 5 weeks and it went ok.  Didn't offer a paci until 6weeks and he wasn't interested but once he started teething (or seeing other kids with one?) he ended up using one for bed time.  Didn't stress about my supply building until 2mo (went back to work at 3mo) so I pumped once in the morning almost every day that month.  Once I returned to work I always pumped enough at work to supply for the next day and usually a little extra until about 8mo.  Had/have a rotating supply of about 100oz in the freezer b/c I sometimes travel for work 2-4 days.  Now I'm coming in pretty much right on without any to spare and use the frozen occasionally so it has probably dwindled a little.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

1 year old in 6 days!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Exhausted! I took today off work because it's day three of little to no sleep. Libby is sleeping in her crib, but waking every 60-90 minutes from the time she goes down (around 7:30-8 p.m.) until 6 a.m. she's also trying to drop her second nap of the day and has not been napping well in the afternoons.

We think it's combo of teething (AGAIN) and developmental strides (walking and talking). Arg! I am exhausted. I hope she settles down soon.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

First "bee-day" party on Saturday. Cake Smash photo session on the 5th and 1 year pedi appt. on the 9th.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Aside from the afore mentioned sleeplessness, we've been scrambling to arrange for child care while my mom is in Portland helping her sister through open heart surgery and recovery. She'll be gone two weeks, then come back for one while I am at a conference in Chicago (we've decided that Libby with stay home with grandma and daddy rather than travel with me and my mom to the conference) and then back to Portland for another week after that. It's been stressful since I will have to be out of town for a week during that time AND Joseph's Spring Break isn't until the end of that period, but we've worked it out. Thankfully, the family I've been donating breastmilk to is available and willing to watch Libby while Joseph is in class and I am at work (M-W).

    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items.

    Currently...

    1) Her board books. Her #1 favorite activity is us reading ALL of them each day AND taking them out and looking at them herself too. We have several that are in a series of 3-5 and she does "comparison" studies of them now...like she'll find the Red Starfish in one of them that is about colors and then next to it, open the one that's about counting and pictures 9 Red Starfish. It's actually pretty amazing to watch her do this. She also has most of her books memorized and if she skips a page when going through them she'll go back and find the one(s) she missed. If you ask her, "where's the purple hippo?" she'll go to the page with it. Same thing for others...like fish, dog, etc. It's really cute. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being a total bookworm and maybe, someday a librarian like our Lisa in Oz!

    2) Stuffed animals...loves this little plush hippo as well as a CloudB vibrating Polar Bear she got for Christmas from my dad. Also her bumble bee and lady bug Pillow Pets.

    3) B. Parum Pum Pum Drum Set

    4) Playskool Step Start Walk 'n' Ride

    5) Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Home

    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?

Honestly? No. But she's always been WAY ahead so I've not had time to worry. I worry more about being able to keep up with her as she meets them Wink Like walking...I want her to walk but in a way am glad she's not doing it just yet...because as soon as she does I know we're in a world of trouble! Surely she'll be RUNNING and CLIMBING as soon as possible!

What has caused me worry is second guessing my less-than-mainstream choices such as bedsharing for nearly a year, introducing solids using BLW, cloth diapering, etc. I've worried that I didn't make the right choice. This usually comes after someone else questions my decision (like family or friends). Once I work that out (all over again) for myself, I am fine.

I also worry that being a working mom is somehow detrimental to her. Intellectually I know that many babies/children have working moms and it's honestly not something I ever thought I'd feel, but I do wish we were in a financial place that SAHM would be an option for me. At least until my kids are school age.

    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work?

Started pumping around 3 weeks and introduced the bottle at 4 weeks. Discovered I had excess lipase around 8 weeks and had to trash my frozen stash. She also gave up the bottle around then and started giving her milk by cup. This summer I donated all my frozen milk (200+ oz.) to an adoptive mom because we learned that she wouldn't take any previously frozen milk (despite it being scaleded to deactivate the effect of excess lipase).

    (8) We're almost out of questions (again!). I'll probably start recycling some since it's been a while and we have several new moms/moms-to-be. What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  6 months this coming Saturday!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Henry definitely can sit on his own now.  He will still tip over veeeery occasionally when he reaches for something a little too far away.  But overall, he loves sitting up, and loves trying to stand when he hold his hands.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  Next Monday.....shots!  Crying

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  I don't want to be too gross, but explosive diarrhea!  His daycare has a tummy bug going around, and he's been having very loose, wet stools that are an obnoxious color and smell.  The interesting thing is that he seems fine, other than being a little tired.  But he smiles as much as always, and isn't fussier than usual, either.  It's just those diapers!  Ick!

    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items.  Henry's fav toys are his Oball Rattle, Sophie, Freddie the Firefly, and "puppy" (his lovey).  He loves board books, too, but has recently started to try to "eat" them when we read.  He also has just this past week figured out that the Jumperoo is actually for jumping (he always liked it, but didn't actually jump until now), and now loves it.

My latest fav mom things are the Beaba (along with the freezer trays), Ergo, my new Munchkin bottle brush (I hated my sponge one, it fell apart...this bristle one is much better!), the Nosefrida (disgusting, but wonderful!), Henry's new jacket.....a Columbia fleece with fold-over monster hand mittens!

    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?  I've just started to worry about the fact that he doesn't talk/babble much.  He's got the "ga" consonant down, but doesn't say any other consonants whatsoever (no ba, ma, or da at all).  I know he's got time, but I hope he says something (anything!) else soon!

    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work?  I started pumping a tiny bit in the hospital, actually (as recommended by the LC), to attempt to get my nipples to pull out more so he could latch better.  His latch did improve, so then when we came home I pumped after about a week to try to increase my production (which wasn't really successful).  After three months of solid pumping 5 times a day (and only achieving a stash of about 100 oz....not even enough for 4 days) it became painfully obvious that I would not be able to continue to nurse after going back to work.

Aw, Lisa....I think in this case although it's quasi-"unnecessary" it's also what will be best to help their speech develop with more ease than waiitng. The procedure sounds relatively simple and somewhat harmless (maybe as painful as a dental procedure?)...I think you're making a wise decision to take care of it now. I've had singer colleagues who had to have it done as adults because they couldn't roll their R's, etc. and trust me, you'll be glad that you didn't wait until they were older.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 32w3d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? first day of my light bedrest leave. feeling very very relieved.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

next friday for the last 2 week check up i think. then it's every week? we have our childbrith class this weekend and child prep class too. kinda bummed re the childbirth class 'cause they will be going over labor stuff, but i won't be needed any of that.  i had signed up when there was still a chance the cpp could clear. so yeah. i'm half tempted to call them and ask when they will discuss the csection stuff so that i'm just there for that part! hehehe

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

see below re the amnio which has already been discussed at length. thank you very much again ladies!

    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items.

hmmm mom items that i like so far... i love my mat dresses and my baby doll pjs. oh and i love my snoogle! wouldn't be able to sleep without it. i love our crib too =)

    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?

not yet. but chances are i will! heheheh

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Smile

I feel a little weird about it since I'm essentially saying "We're going to talk to a doctor and then do whatever the hell we want anyway," but I really do think it will be better in the long run. Like I said before, the VERY worst case scenario is that it's not truly necessary for eating or language, but now they'll be able to stick their tongues out and lick an ice cream cone. That's so minor to me that it's worth doing to avoid any potential complications that waiting could bring on (like them turning 5, a doctor deciding it does need to get snipped after all, and then still having to go through years of speech therapy).

I guess what I'm saying is that there aren't any downsides, but there are massive potential benefits. The only risk is infection to the area, but that's rare and as long as we keep an eye on it, it should be fine.

I'm actually a bit frustrated with the doctors I've seen about it up until this point. They all keep saying, "Wait and see if it's a problem, it might stretch" but the things I've read from actual pediatric surgeons all disagree with that. The tie doesn't "stretch" - the person just finds ways to work around it, but obviously those methods can mean they may have mild speech difficulties or have to work much harder to move food around in their mouths, etc. They might get it done, but it's not as efficient or easy as it should be.

Ugh. I don't know...tongue ties used to be snipped at birth as a matter of course, and while I completely understand that they want to do away with unnecessary procedures, I kind of feel like this is one that could have stayed. Even though three lactation consultants have told me otherwise, I secretly believe their tongue ties were part of the reason BFing didn't work out for us. I was repeatedly told that their latch was "perfect" but although it may have looked like that from the outside, nursing hurt like hell right up until the day I stopped BFing so I don't think their tongues were operating quite right to nurse from a breast vs the easier bottle. Maybe I'm reading too much into things - I was nursing two babies and pumping all the time as well so perhaps it was just overuse - but I do think it probably contributed to the problem.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 10 weeks - almost 2.5 months!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Great in that E is smiling often, "talking" a lot, and has started really interacting with his toys and his environment.  Not great in that his night-time sleep has gone to crap.  I will be posting separately about this, b/c I don't know what's going on!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  Tomorrow - 2 month shots Sad

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  sleep.  he was up every 2 hours last night, until he decided that wasn't enough and wanted to eat every hour instead.

    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items. he loves his activity mat and the whoozit.  i love the moby and my nursing tanks.

    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?  yes, all the time.  i worry that the meconium aspiration may have had long term effects (though it really shouldn't have), given his difficulty breathing when he was born.  (I'd probably worry anyway though!)  for example, E's E (hah) is a week older than Eric and smiled, held on to things, etc, weeks before he has Smile, but I think it's normal for boys to be a little slower.  we did decide to do a "high risk infant follow-up" at 4 months, where the PT we worked with will evaluate his neurological and developmental progress.  I think/hope i'll feel much more relaxed after that (assuming all looks good).

    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work?  I started pumping 12 hours after he was born, and continued to pump 7x/day until he was almost 4 weeks old.  He started getting bottles when he was about a week old (as soon as he could eat without a feeding tube) - that was the only way we were going to get out of the NICU in a reasonable amount of time.  He also got a paci really early on, maybe a few days old - not sure exactly when they gave him one.  By around 5 weeks, we were EBF'ing, and now he gets 1 bottle every day or two, just to make sure he doesn't forget.  I haven't started trying to build a stash yet - I do have a bunch in the freezer from when I was pumping, but we'll have to use it before I go back to work.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?she is 14 months 10 days
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?so many new things every week now :) it amazes me how fast she learns!she can also stack the coaster back in their tray...this is the first stacking task she has been able to complete - yay!I posted on FB about this - you say "bonk" and she'll head butt you and say "bonk" back :) it's the cutest thing ever. she'll do it really hard, too!! totally hurt my head but she didn't even cryshe now does the sign for "eat" and says "eat"(aside from "milk," seems by the time she is able to do a sign she is able to speak it, negating the necessity of it...ha) she can ID shapes in her books now - triangle, square, rectangle, oval
new words: tutu, chickpeas, uh oh, prune, bear, up
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?15 month shots in a few wks
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?transitioning from 2 naps/day to just 1.  it hasn't been super hard but today i am questioning my decision...she has gotten really cranky in the evenings both today and yesterday and i'm wondering if it's too early to do this or if it's just part of the transition
    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items.her favorite toys: cordless phone, cell phone, magazines, bottled water, etc.  her favorite actual toys: M&D shape sorting clock (she loves the blocks), anything that plays music, and all her books.  she LOVES books.favorite mom/baby items - the my brest friend nursing pillow (in the beginning, now we nurse on the bed laying down), target nursing tanks (cheap/functional, not particularly stylish though), our buggy bag for shopping, cloth diapers, my skip hop studio diaper bag
    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?honestly, no, b/c she seems to meet all of them just fine.  if she wasn't, I most likely would be worrying - I think it is hard not to, as a parent
    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work?I started pumping the day after she was born and would pump for 15 min after each nursing session to try to stimulate my milk to come in (it finally did at the end of day 6) she was given the bottle twice on day 5 and then not again until 6 wks.  the first time there was no nipple confusion... second time there wasn't either but she did not readily take the bottle anymore.  i've heard you can do it as soon as your milk supply is established but i had trouble getting DH to do it and she wouldn't take it from me.  she took the bottle some on days I went to work but usu. 6-8 oz in 10 hrs.  i think ideally we would have done it around 4 wks when my supply was good/established...but we waited too long and then she refused the bottle.  we eventually transitioned her to cup feeding for a little while and then just went to the straw cup around 7 months and then to a regular cup (where she sipped and did not lap it like when she was younger) around 8 monthsi started pumping for work pretty much right away as soon as my milk came in. i didn't really understand oversupply in the beginning so i easily stored up milk and over pumped! only thing was that i did not pump very often, just when i was away from her or when she was sleeping and i was engorged (i was too lazy).  since birth i would say that i pump once/wk on average when not working and 2-3x/day while at work.  so, i really never did build up a huge stash.  what i would pump at work she'd drink the next time i was at work anyway.  at most my freezer stash was never more than 120 oz but i was still pretty proud of that :)  currently i have only about 6 oz left b/c she now drinks more than i am pumping at work :( but that's ok b/c we've started on cow's milk... it is just bittersweet to think about weaning...
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?8mo
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Good! He's starting to cruise a lot now and sometimes only using one hand (getting brave!) but poor little dude is boinking his head a bit because of it (esp when he's tired--since he hates to nap--he will fall a lot more) but it doesn't seem to stop him =P Oh, and he's also started to dance! He'll hold his musical table and bounce up and down to the beat when the music is playing =)
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?9mo
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?Getting him to nap. Recently, I decided to stop "forcing" scheduled naptimes, so I just put him to nap when he shows me that he's tired (yawning, pulling his ears/hair, rubbing his eyes) but he still puts up such a fuss. I tried to let him fuss a bit before getting him now and it was really hard. Eventually, I think we ended up doing a modified version of CIO where we let him cry a bit (few min) before getting him (I used to just sit there with him until he sleeps), but we don't really increase the time interval. It took him almost 2 hours to sleep the first time =( but now we're down to ~15min so I guess it's working...
    (5) What are your LO's favorite toys? Top 5 favorite baby/kid/mom items. He used to really love Sophie, but I think he had enough of her now cuz he still likes her but not as much as before. So here are his current favs:
    1. board books (any one)
    2. bath toys (we have this one)
    3. baby einstein take along tunes4. fisher-price laugh and learn musical table (he got it for Christmas from my parents and now that he's cruising, he loves walking around this thing and playing with it)5. PBK Hippo rattle (from this collection) -- he's loved this rattle since he was a wee bub =) he used to love just shaking it, now he's obsessed with the tag on itNow that we're on solids, I would say that one of *my* favorite things is this Boon Catch Bowl
    (6) Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?Yes, I did a bit sometimes, but very minimally. He's doing well overall but I don't think he's really perfected his pincer grasp yet and I remember I was a little worried when he didn't roll as much in the beginning when I heard that other babies were rolling a lot. Also, he's a bit behind on solids, but that's my fault--cuz we only give him solids once a day and he doesn't even get any for the day if we're on vacation or if we go out for dinner (maybe I'll bring this up solids as a question for a future check-in). But I'm really not too worried about milestones for him. All kids eventually get reach their milestones generally, even if it may be later than some, so it's not a big deal for me. I worry about other things *a lot* more (aka safety/germs/getting sick/etc).
    (7) For BF moms: When did you start pumping? How early did you introduce bottle-feeding to LO? And how far in advance did you start building a supply for when or if you returned to work?I started pumping around day 3-4, when I found out that he had lost over 13% of his weight because my milk hadn't come in, so he started bottle feeding immediately. I didn't build a supply--in the beginning, I was just pumping to use immediately to feed him and then we still had to supplement with formula afterwards, so I never could build up a stash. By the time we finally started EBF, I was tired of pumping so I was too lazy to do it. So I always just had about three 5oz bags in the fridge and when I went back to work, when I pumped, it would just be replenishing the bag that got used while I was at work. But recently, after I got my first pp AF and my supply tanked, I got freaked out, so I try to pump around midnight almost everyday before I go to bed, since I don't have to worry about him being hungry since he STTN already. So I've only recently started building up a stash of 4oz bags now, which I'm pretty happy about.
