Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I cooked my first whole chicken yesterday...

In the crockpot and it turned out awesome!  I just poured 1 can of chicken broth in the bottom - then placed a whole frozen chicken in the pot, poured a little lemon juice over top, covered with lemon pepper seasoning and cooked on high for 7 hours.  It was really yummy!

I need to use my crock pot more often...it's so easy!!!

  • Yum! I love lemon pepper chicken. I will have to try that. I love to use my crock pot. I am using it today making crock pot chicken pot pie!

  • But what about the crispy skin?! That's the best part!
  • That sounds good and easy! I love my crock pot! How big was the chicken?

I have a really neat email that has all sorts of crock pot recipes in it...I can't copy and paste it...PM me if you want me to send it to you. I've gotten a lot of good meals from it.

Its super cheap and really easy.  The best whole chicken recipie I have ever made was this one:

I usually make extra sauce and freeze it for later meals.

Make sure you get one that is programmable.  The first one I got wasn't and so I could never cook in it while working since I would be gone for 9+ hours...I actually burned something once.

Now that I have a programmable one I can set it for 6 hours on low and it will turn itself to "warm" after 6 hours.  It's great!!!

They're really cheap too!  I think I paid less than $5 for this one.  And it had soo much meat on it.  I ate some white meat for dinner last night, DH ate all the dark meat since he likes that.  Yuck!  Then I took the rest of the white meat with me to work today for lunch.

But you can use leftover meat another day for dinner - chicken quesadillas, chicken soft tacos, chicken soup, etc etc.

  • That sounds delicious! We are cooking a whole chicken tomorrow night for dinner, maybe I will try it this way instead of in the rotisserie (or however the hell you spell it, lol.)
