OMG, that was so awkward

I came out to my boss last week during my review (he doesn't work in the state), but have told very few people at work. I work at the same company with my dad and he's super excited to tell people.I have one team member from my group that is in my location, but I haven't told him yet because I wasn't sure how it would be received and I think it's awkward to tell people. He's single and leads a very different life than I do and even though we're pretty close I just didn't know how he would take it.

Today there was a charity thing at lunch, so I was in the lunchroom with my dad. A lady I used to babysit for came up and was talking to us and asked me how motherhood was going. My dad mentioned that #2 was on it's way and I made a comment about how I'm leaving it up to my dad to tell people. At that exact moment team member walked by and made a comment "well, no one told me". Yikes! That is totally not how I wanted him to find out and now I'm not sure what to say to him.

Holy freaking awkward :(

    Maybe just stop by his desk sometime and clear the air.  Tell him you were trying to figure out how to tell him (and everyone else) and your dad just can't really contain it....

    This. Don't let him make you feel bad. Just explain its not an easy thing to safe with people.

    oh boy! i'd approach him later and explain that your intention wasnt for him to find out secondhand or in passing. maybe bring him a donut or something-men love to be buttered up, lol!
