Alabama Babies

Walt Disney World

First, let me say I know DS will not remember it, but we are going bc we LOVE WDW and want to go again before we even think about TTC #2.

DH's parents and maybe my parents will be going, too.  What rides can a 1 year old ride?  I know he'll love Animal Kingdom because he loved the zoo.  He's not afraid of mascots so I'm not worried about fear of the characters.  Any advice for WDW with kids?

Re: Walt Disney World

  • No advice, but let me know when you guys are planning on going so I can cram myself and DS into your suitcase. Ok, thanks.

  • I'm interested to see what others say as well since we are going next December.
  • We took her at 23 mths. My friend took hers at 9 mths, then 21 months. Honestly, I was worried sick about how she would behave. I figured, as others have said that she wouldn't remember it,but we would enjoy it (and they are free under 3!!!) I can not tell you HOW surprised I was at the way that she reacted. She did better than I could have ever imagined and I saw the magic through her eyes which was amazing. She did well on the rides, loved the characters, etc. I encourage any and all to do it while they are still free. The "cast members" are more than accomodating and the restaurants are all kid friendly. Don't get me wrong, we had "tired tantrums" every once in a while, but I never saw anyone even bat an eye. In fact, we loved it so much, we have already booked a trip for this fall before she turns 3!! We look at pictures all of the time and watch things on YouTube to keep the memories alive for her. If you can-I would definitely shoot for the fall or winter/early spring if possible-avoid major crowds and heat-we went when it was not very crowded and we walked on most rides-it made it so much better. (busy times are times when schools are out-summer, spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

Here is the breakdown of what they can ride:

    Magic Kingdom:

Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White, Carousel, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Tea Cups, Aladdin Carpets, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Carribean, Railroad, Riverboat, Treehouse, Haunted Mansion, Transit Authority, Astro Orbiter, Space Ranger Spin, Carousel of Progress....as well as see the "show" attractions like Hall of Presidents, Bear Jamboree, Monster's Inc, PhilharMagic and enjoy all of the meet and greets as well as the parades. They are doing some rennovations on Toon Town, so not sure when it will all be closed.

    Animal Kingdom:

Nemo and Lion King Show, 3d Bug Show, Train, Safari, Tricera Top Spin (like Dumbo) as well as all of the other animal exhibits, character meet and greets and parade.

    Epcot:

Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, The Seas, Turtle Talk, The Land, Imagination, Mexico and Norway ride, as well as some things in Innovations, character meet and greet, and touring "around the world"

    Hollywood Studios:

Movie Ride, American Idol, shows-Indiana Jones, Car Stunt Show, Beauty and the Beast, Muppet 3d, Playground, Backlot Tour, Toy Story Mania, Little Mermaid, Playhouse Disney, the parade

  • That's awesome info! And I had no idea it's free under 3...good to know =)  THANK YOU
  • Yes! And FYI-once they are over 3, child tickets ($78) are almost as expensive as an adult ($87) per day....however, the tickets get cheaper per day the longer you stay.

  • Awesome info thanks Brooke.  We have been to Disney several times but never with a child and my parents are taking us and my brothers family the week after Christmas next year so she'll be 26 months and this info helps tons!
